(29,219 posts)was the inspiration for the Tree of The Children in the Game of Thrones. Where the Three Eyed Raven practiced his magic. A lone tree near The Wall.
Something is wrong with our society today where people, often young men, think it is cool to go out and destroy something that nature has provided is.. like the destruction a number of years ago of natural bridges in the US. They make videos this and post it to the internet for views.

(27,827 posts)This is more comparable to that (grown) man, an Alabama fan, who poisoned historic trees on the Auburn campus. I find it senseless, to take away something that has so much meaning to so many.

(35,713 posts)Ive reported this story before at DU but it seems appropriate to tell it again.
My brother received a phone call telling him that a tenants teenage son was attacking a tree.
My brother went to the property and stopped the kid from doing further damage.
The next day, a big branch from this damaged tree fell on the kid and killed him.
Note: as a kid, I can remember my brother and dad planting saplings around these rental properties.

(26,111 posts)That was a large, commercial saw used. I am surprised it was done by one person, and a kid at that.
