....cue suspenseful music........ Has outlawed open carry in the city of Albuquerque for around 30 days. Of course all those "reliable critics" are going totally ape shit raging bonkers that a she is not in chains for committing such a blatant violation of their constitution.
Folks, a high ranking politician is infected with the true spirit of wokeness. Sanity may be finally breaking out in America. Be sure to mask up. Right?

(6,841 posts)The real thing is that there's an actual elected official giving the finger to the 2nd amendment fetishes, the police departments, the ammo/camo freaks and Republican politicians who trade the death innocents for votes on a regular basis.

There has been a fatal shooting every day with the last being the killing of an innocent 11 year old boy in a road rage incident leaving a baseball game.

(32,727 posts)I think any laws and regulations should be done in a way that allows every competent American, regardless of income, to have access if they choose, with the following requirements that are paid for with income based fees:
- Full background check that pulls in social media history as well.
- Discreet psychological evaluation that is controlled in a way to protect privacy and prevent bias/ discrimination.
- Required interview with at least 1 person who can vouch for the would-be gun owner, with exceptions for women who have left violent/abusive domestic situations.
- Required notification to other adults in the same home (if the other adults are dangerous or a threat, the conversation should be about leaving the situation, not adding fuel to the fire)
- Required safety and handling training.
- Required liability insurance that is income based and increases with each weapon purchased. Tickets issued / guns impounded when caught with unregistered guns.
- A limit to how many weapons can be mysteriously stolen from one individual - criminal penalties if the weapon was sold, given away or if negligence is suspected.
- Automatic prison time if a child is harmed or injured or harms someone else with an unsecured gun
