If there's not at least an order of magnitude between Ukr and Ru losses (Ukr < Ru) it calls for at least another drink and another thought, "Too bad the possibly good brother died in the 1940s. Where's cholera when you need it?"

2. This is not entirely surprising...

Military doctrine normally calls for the attacking force to outnumber the defenders by 2 or 3 to 1 when going on the offensive. It’s somewhat remarkable that Ukraine and Russia have sustained comparable losses considering that to conduct offensive operations the Ukrainians have to break cover and traverse heavily mined areas while Russian equipment can remain dug in and well protected.
