3. Because effective propaganda and endless repetition works

It's like a brain worm infecting the listener who goes back for more and more like a needy addict. I saw my own mother turn into a ditto head, a Limbaugh fan 'girl' in her 70s and 80s. I could not talk her out of the extreme positions and/or distortions and when I did I was deemed a 'know-it-all', an ungrateful daughter.

I finally gave up any and all political discussion, limited our conversations to family and neighborhood. Wasn't worth the constant harangue and I hated fighting with her. There were too many fights and hard feelings growing up. I didn't want to end the chapter on the same note.

These Fox devotees won't change until the plug is pulled. And even then, the grievances will continue ad infinitum.

My brother has been slowly sinking further into this. I don't have a lot of contact with him as it is but I refuse to discuss politics.
At least the report broke out Fox nuts from other Republicans.

Yeah, it was a rough road. But as you know from dealing with your brother, it is what it is.

I think you're very wise steering away from anything political. Even if your relationship is long-distance or not so frequent, very few of us want to be warring with blood relatives. Sometimes it's unavoidable; you just have to cut the cord. But then, staying away from combustible subjects can help. It helped me at least.

Faux news and other far right-wing outlets are toxic. Frankly, I think we need a poll on how many families have been split wide open with their hateful garbage.

This poll gives us a sense of that by underscoring the power of repeated distortions and how they completely warp individual perception.

And their numbers continue to dwindle. As a matter of fact, almost none of his loonies were there to cheer him on (and I'm betting he was hoping for thousands) So, you know - perspective.
