And Ron DeSantis went to both.
Remember this as you think about SCOTUS' affirmative action decision.

Im not sure I get your point- of course some people who have attended elite universities end up in power positions (at a disproportionate level compared to the general populace)

But if the mediocre children of the wealthy had to meet the same standards as everybody else, there would be more room in all colleges for people likely to do something useful with their lives. And maybe it's time we stopped worshipping the Ivy League. There are first-rate schools all over the country that offer educations of the same quality, but Harvard and Yale have brand recognition. It's like having a Rolex watch when a Timex is just as accurate, but you can't impress anybody by flashing a Timex.

(58,354 posts)How George W. Bush Benefited From Affirmative Action
It is called "legacy" admissions. Former President George W. Bush was an affirmative-action beneficiary, at Yale University and then at Harvard Business School. But that didn't stop him from opposing affirmative action based, in part, on race.
He was truly a beneficiary of an affirmative action.

How did George Bush Get into Yale - Yale University - College ...
It wasn't his SAT scores: 566 verbal and 640 math.. They may not have had an explicit point system at Yale in 1964, but Bush clearly got in because of affirmative action. Affirmative action for the son and grandson of alumni. Affirmative action for a member of a politically influential family.
