CLERMONT COUNTY, Ohio (WKRC) — An Ohio father charged with three counts of aggravated murder in the murder of his three young sons faced a judge on Friday.

Bond was set at $20 million for Chad Doerman, what is reportedly the highest bond in county history.

Doerman is charged with fatally shooting his children ages 7, 4 and 3 in the yard at their home. According to court documents, Doerman said he planned it out for several months.

Investigators say he lined up and executed them. The motive in the shootings remained unclear.

The 34-year-old mother of the children was shot in the hand, apparently having grabbed Doerman's gun at some point in an attempt to save them. She then called 911 and told dispatchers "her babies had been shot."

I Googled the POSs name and found a local news article. Apparently one of the boys managed to escape and he chased him down, dragged him back, and killed him in front of witnesses.

There is also a picture of the boys. Heartbreaking.

He used a rifle and the elder daughter escaped. The mother witnessed it and was injured trying to stop it. Sounds like a domestic violence issue.

I'm generally opposed to the death penalty because there have been cases where the innocent have been convicted. I'll say though that in some cases it's appropriate.
