talking points, and his republican defenders in Congress.
They did it with Kerry and the swift boaters in 2004 going as far as giving the swift pukes free airtime to run their ads adnauseam by making those ads part of the news story.
They did it with Hillary in 2016 by over-covering trump at every opportunity, to the degree of inadvertently legitimizing his racist, sexist bigotry.

It appears they are following the same course, overcoverage of trump and his supporters
They never did that when George Wallace ran for president, and in fact they openly criticized Wallace's racism, and dangerous rhetoric.
I have to wonder how much actual issues will be talked about.
