I haven't seen this posted yet.
One of the quotes that I read this cycle from Grover Norquist about Mitt Romney was this as posted here http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/02/13/grover-norquist-speech-cpac.html:
"All we have to do is replace Obama. ... We are not auditioning for fearless leader. We don't need a president to tell us in what direction to go. We know what direction to go. We want the Ryan budget. ... We just need a president to sign this stuff. We don't need someone to think it up or design it. The leadership now for the modern conservative movement for the next 20 years will be coming out of the House and the Senate."
....
The requirement for president?
"
Pick a Republican with enough working digits to handle a pen to become president of the United States. This is a change for Republicans: the House and Senate doing the work with the president signing bills. His job is to be captain of the team, to sign the legislation that has already been prepared."
So when Obama said and did this, I wonder if that quote wasn't in the back of his mind. If it was, his cool points just soared in my book.
In fact, the Senate has already passed a bill that will do just this, Obama said. What we need is action from the House. And Ive got the pen ready to sign the bill right away. He reached into his pocket, and drew a handsome black pen that he held up for the cameras. Im ready to do it, he said.
