This session will not deal with school vouchers. Greg will call a separate special session when school is in session so that teachers will not swarm the capital

Abbott said the special session, which started at 9 p.m. on Monday, will only focus on property tax cuts and border security but promised more special sessions later this year to address a host of other priorities the Legislature failed to deliver on.
Several special sessions will be required, he said. To ensure that each priority receives the time and attention it deserves to pass into law, only a few will be added each session.......
Special sessions can last a maximum of 30 days, though lawmakers aren't required to meet for that long. Some special sessions in Texas history have lasted only 1 day with the Legislature refusing to pass a governor's priorities. The Texas Constitution only allows lawmakers to take up what Abbott puts on the agenda

(7,489 posts)Theyre damn high in New York, New Jersey, and California too; the three states that send the government far more $$ than they get in return.
In the shitty 2017 tax cut bill Republicans capped the deduction for state and local taxes at $10,000. They did that to punish blue states that have high tax rates.
If Texans dont like property taxes, then enact an income tax.
