Meta Platforms Inc. has reportedly begun a new round of job cuts as part of a mass layoff company CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced in March.
The social media giant has let people go in its corporate communications, marketing, recruiting and engineering groups as part of the new cuts, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing LinkedIn posts by those who said they'd been laid off.
It was unclear how many people the Menlo Park, California-based company is cutting in the new round or how many Puget Sound-area workers would be affected. The company employed 8,800 workers in the region as of last October and has since laid off more than 700 workers.
Meta spokesman Dave Arnold declined to comment on the reports, pointing instead to Zuckerberg's blog post in March, in which he announced that the company planned to lay off 10,000 workers overall. In that post, Zuckerberg said the company would cut its recruiting team that month, its tech teams in late April and its business teams late this month.
