and his cult members will happily foot the bill when it eventually comes due after the inevitable appeals. But it's clear that he does care about the verdict because he made a point of talking about it - and defaming Carroll again (giving her grounds for another lawsuit should she choose to do it again). You are quite right, though, that the base doesn't care and would vote for him again. So, it's all hands on deck. We can't make the mistake of thinking he can't win or that all his legal problems will deter his fans from voting for him.

He seems to revel in it, rather than trying to somehow make up for his bad behavior. His strategy always seems to be to double down. And enough people eat it up and continue to fund his ugly behavior and beg for more of it.
