An apology for my insensitive post yesterday about TFG's rape of EJ Carroll.

I had just got up and turned on the TV and heard Poppy Harlow say that under NY law, it was not rape
because Mz Carroll did not know if there had been penetration. For whatever reasons in my mind, I found
this funny, a reference to the wee nature of TFG's penis. Although the jury could not find him liable for rape,
what he did certainly was rape and was very traumatic for Mz Carroll.
I was wrong to find humor in this very serious event and I hope NY laws can change to include this type of
sexual assault as rape.

I think everyone got a little giddy with this mofo finally getting his just desserts - that perhaps led to unfortunate phrasing of our thoughts.

I just really hope people understand that rape is nothing to joke about. Nor does it have anything to do with the size of an assailant's "member". Nor does it need to involve a penis to be rape. If people learn just this one thing, then all good.

Rape is one of the worst violent attacks that can happen to a person, and there is NOTHING funny about it.

4. :) How nice. Yes, NY's still among most states that define rape as including

forced intercourse, and many other nations. That came as a nasty surprise to some. But society advances with equality, and many places have already expanded it to include a whole range other forced contacts.

I didn't read your thread, but fwiw, to me good natured humor devoid of malice, insensitive to the issue and the emotional reactions of some as it might be, simply cannot be among the worst of the extreme reactions yesterday's jury decisions elicited throughout the social media world. This is an age of widespread angst and hostility, and social media are famous for inflaming and enabling acting it out.

Hope your thoughtful and generous apology to all inspires more thoughtfulness and more generosity.
