(68,864 posts)shit and those who defend it...clearly this was a Nazi/White supremacist. We also need background checks, age restrictions, and insurance (mandatory) That is a start. Many of these folks are Nazis or worse and of course child killers...the worst kind of killer.

(2,866 posts)I have quite a few tattoos. Every shop I've ever been to or had work done in has explicit rules specifying they do not do racist tattoos. It would kill their business once all the musicians, athletes and college kids found out. Most tattoos like that are done by rogues at someone's house or in jail or prison (aka, jailhouse tats). My artist won't even do those trendy Chinese characters without Googling them first. He's a big brutish biker and his wife's a sweetheart. He got warped on Jesus to quit drugs and alcohol. He realizes he traded one vice for another but, at least he isn't waking up in the front yard anymore covered in dogshit.
Most, if not the vast majority of tattoo artists, are great people. Please don't cast aspersions. Racists get tattoos from other racists. Not legitimate business people.

(416 posts)But you need to pay attention to how many professional Nazi Tattoos there are AND YES for some parlors that IS the bulk of what they do
Did you not note that I didn't say ALL of them?

(416 posts)You might want to check out the clubs.
I'm From deep in MAGA country.....NAZI and Rebel flag tattoos everywhere. Try Myrtle Beach area
Might also want to check out how much business there is for Nazi tattoo removals there are. It's not all just Swastikas....there is LOTS of variations
Mr. Evil
(2,866 posts)You're sounding like the only people that get tattoos are MAGA types, 1%er bikers and deranged Nazi wannabe's. I've been in dozens of tattoo shops from where I live (Kentucky) to Baton Rouge to Orlando. The overwhelming majority of people that have tattoos are not those types. I began getting them over 35 years ago.
I don't know if you're intentionally being condescending or trying to insinuate that I'm out of touch but, I assure you, in my 63+ years I've been everywhere in the south. Playing Metal opens lots of doors for you. As they say, if you live long enough you'll see everything. And I certainly have. Maybe if it's as bad as you imply it is where you live, you should consider moving.

(416 posts)Why you are implying that I said something about everyone with a tattoo is also false. I happen to like tattoos
.
What I did say is there are whole Tattoo Artists that that kind of tattoo is their bread and butter and you took offense to that. The fact that there are so many offering to remove them....proves my claim....why you took offense to that.....or that Bikers types with tattoos like that exist is beyond me. Because you have been in dozens doesn't prove they do not exist
Hells Angels and MANY other Gangs just like them exist.....and LOTS of White Supremacist Groups who also display the various and sundry Nazi icon Tattoos do too. Why just pointing that out offended you is beyond my comprehension...so yeah whatever. The Shooter in Allen Texas didn't tattoo himself.

(19,301 posts)My best friend from elementary school turned into a raging racist. He put it on full display on social media during the Floyd riots and Jan 6. I unfriended him after that.
And he has a successful tattoo shop that he's run for 20 years up in our rural, bright red hometown. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he's done ink like this
Mr. Evil
(2,866 posts)But, he will always have a limited clientele.

(416 posts)I just said THERE ARE a lot of tattoo artist where Nazi shit is their bread and butter and you took offense....no it is not "limited" you would be surprised how many "88's" and 14 words types....lots of KKK shit too

(15,033 posts)Got a long time Texas friend who's lived in two major small cities/big towns close to Dallas. Now she lives a little "further" out like 30 miles.
She's feeling a bit creeped out.
But she also said after Biden won - I'd go outside and dance - but I might get shot.

All 26 House Oversight Republicans refuse to sign statement denouncing white supremacy
We the People cant wait for The Department of Justice or the History Department to catch up with whats going on in reality. The good ol Red GOP is the reincarnation of Dixie. We need to call them out for what they are: NAZIs.
All 26 House Oversight Republicans refuse to sign statement denouncing white supremacy
by David Badash
The New Civil Rights Movement, March 08, 2023
All 26 Republicans on the powerful House Oversight Committee have refused to sign a simple, two-sentence statement denouncing white supremacy.
"We, Members of the Committee on Oversight and Accountability, together denounce white nationalism and white supremacy in all its forms, including the 'Great Replacement' conspiracy theory. These hateful and dangerous ideologies have no place in the work of the United States Congress or our Committee," the statement from Ranking Member Jamie Raskin (D-MD)
reads.
It comes after several Oversight Committee Republicans "invoked dangerous and conspiratorial rhetoric echoing the racist and nativist tropes peddled by white supremacists and right-wing extremists," during a February hearing on the "border crisis," Ranking Member Raskin said in a March 5 letter to Committee Chair James Comer
The Washington Post first reported on Raskins letter.
"In particular, some Members repeatedly described the number of migrants arriving at the border as an 'invasion,' and even went so far as to falsely accuse the Biden-Harris Administration of implementing a plan 'to deliberately open our border' for purposes of 'changing our culture'mirroring language often used by MAGA extremists who believe that pro-immigration policies are designed to replace white populations with non-white immigrants and other racial minorities," Raskin's letter says.

(15,033 posts)Oh, boy ... My (new) initial response is, like...
(first - I'm really not familiar with that ?secondary
Nazi symbol. The first - of course)
...how, why would they do that?!!
Then again many are so hateful towards certain groups of people(!).... Nazism would be appealing (gah!) to them.
Considering I didn't recognize that symbol the first time, even this second time if you hadn't added that
Nazi Uniform Collar; it's possible it sort of "dog whistling" to those types, at the same time it's pretty blatant.
And I think the first time I saw this was before Jan 6.
It was disgusting then, but post J6 I find myself even more reactive.
