On living in today's hyper-gun culture

What do I personally hate about this? The fact that every time I go out, my situational awareness is dialed up to the same level that it was when I was in the service. Go to a restaurant? I’m scanning faces and judging body language while also looking for points of egress. Park? Where is the greatest concentration of people because I’m avoiding that point target at all costs. Movie theatre? Hah, I wouldn’t be caught in that confined, closed area under any circumstance.

Yes, I have an EDC, but I don’t carry it on my person because if I have to draw it, it’s a choice of last resort. I’d be much too busy getting cover and concealment and figuring out how to extract my wife and I from a situation.

This is not freedom.
