Did the officials in Allen, TX give an official briefing today? Or was none given? I have

gotten a lot of information from DU and the links that posters have used. There doesn't seem to be anything from the police or mayor from Allen. It doesn't seem right that the media and internet are giving out the information and not the people in charge. Thanks

13. Something is off--when the only news is coming from secondary sources and not the town officials. We

had a shooting in the Shadyside area of Pittsburgh a few years back. It was at a synagogue. Everday we got live updates on the the shooter, those killed and wounded. Not only from the press, but the Mayor and Police department.

Panicked video from the scene showed adults running as fast as they could to get away from the crack of rifle fire, their shopping bags flapping around them as they sprinted across the parking lot. One young boy in a red t-shirt ran away while screaming “run,” a look of terror on his face.

It was sheer luck that a cop who was actually willing to attack the shooter was on the scene. There could have been much more damage.

My take? TX is treading lightly and moving slowly because this was rght-wing terror. Some folks here suspect they're busy scrubbing social media posts.

one of the dead was a private security on duty at the mall. Sounds like he tried to attack the shooter first, and died. If so, he needs recognition. Better than the legions of cops at Uvalde.

This is Abbott, the Paxton's (it is his wife, Angela's district, State Senator), the Patrick's. This part of Collin County very right wing. Mega churches.

I also believe the community/county is reeling today. "This did not happen, not here....."
There is only so much you can get out on a Sunday. Coverage has been ok on MSNBC.

The details coming out on shooter are stunning and I believe that is part of everything. This has the potential to really blow up the Republicans messaging in Texas on gun legislation.

Just my very humble opinion.
(I do have some perspective, have shopped there, was here long before the outlet was, I know the area just a little. Only 14 miles away and I and many I know are in a bit of shock)

and blue state transplants have moved in.

It is probably important to point out the Allen Outlets are extremely popular in general, and frequented by a lot of our immigrants and visitors to DFW. I am sure this is why it was targeted.

I live about 3 miles from the Outlets... Where we usually go to shop for my 12yos Nikes and Adidas. All the more horrifying... On any given day, it could have been you there with your Kenyan American wife and son.

Kyler Murray, is an alumni (NFL QB).

Considering size of school, stadium is not out of line.

Allen is a relatively affluent suburb of DFW. Money is not an issue.

I work with Allen officers alot in my job.

Handling a mass shooting... Especially a very low crime area.

Literally, the area we are talking about has the lowest crime rates in the nation.

Local cities here tend to have a cooperative model for black swan response. Plano, McKinney and other PDs I am sure also responded to the event. Victims were sent to McKinney Medical Center, which is the dedicated regional trauma center and just a few miles from the shooting site.

Allen Police Department is heartbroken to confirm nine casualties from today's shooting at Allen Premium Outlets. Seven individuals, including the suspect, were deceased at the scene. Nine were transported to regional hospitals where two later succumbed to their injuries. As of Saturday evening, three victims were in critical condition and four were stable.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has video footage should contact 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324).
