A photograph of a six-year-old boy pointing a gun at the camera has sparked an argument between the photographers agency Reuters and the family of the child.
The photo was taken at the annual National Rifle Association (NRA) convention on April 15 and has been called a set-up by the boys family who say they did not give consent.
However, Reuters has hit back saying that their photographer Evelyn Hockstein clearly introduced herself to adults as a photojournalist.
Snip..
The boys father, Nathan Eckhart, accuses the photographer of setting the photo up so that it looked like [his son] took the gun and was aiming it at her face.

It. Makes. Me. Sick.
While the child may be too young to know right from wrong, he does know how to aim a handgun.

(12,488 posts)I've spent quite a bit of time in Asian countries and am stunned, every time by how respectful and "correct" people are.
I've been on subway trains where a woman is the last one on the train and every other man sitting down rises in unison to offer a seat...
I've had a Bangkok street food worker chase me down with my "change" and don't get me started on Japan.

(11,755 posts)That is one of the fundamental rules of gun safety. Treat all firearms as if they are loaded, at all times. Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot. Be aware of your target, what is around and behind your target as bullets can travel long distances. Keep your firearm pointed in the safest possible direction.
He may have the mechanics of aiming, but he knows nothing about firearm safety.

Jeremiah later watched a video shot late Tuesday night that shows a law enforcement officer in an armored vehicle giving bottles of water to a group of armed men that included Rittenhouse. The officer thanks the men for their help, though they are clearly civilians in violation of the city's 8 p.m. curfew.
We appreciate you guys, the officer on the video says. We really do.

(3,528 posts)Buying our kids cap guns (dont think they sell those anymore), water pistols (these now come in high powered rifle version), nerf guns. Ive been guilty of that, myself.
Of course a six year old knows how to point a pistol.
Perhaps in some future age, toy guns will go the way of the candy cigarettes.
