In All the President's Men, Ben Bradley went out of his way to insure that anything that was

printed had corroborating independent witnesses before it went out.

That type of journalism doesn’t seem to be the standard anymore. The excuse I have heard some make is that media is so competitive that they don’t have time for that corroboration because competition will beat them to that story.

That is an excuse for sloppy journalism

Fox of course takes it even further because they push a political agenda as a mouthpiece for the Republican Party
