That happened just north of my house. It was horrible and it's really starting to blow up.
The guy just point blank shot him and then shot him again.
The police talked to the man and just called it an error and let him go.
And now the protests are just getting started.
People in my area have gotten really paranoid. I see it in the comments on Nextdoor. They threaten retaliation for the slightest provocation. Scary!

(16,454 posts)And the glass door was all over his front stoop. A kid mistakes Street for Terrace and is only one block away by mistake and he loses his life. This is no accident on the homeowners part.

Its as if the trigger-happy residentand the copsthink its his legal right to attempt to kill somebody for ringing his doorbell.
Incrediblewell, not in Amerikathey havent charged the wannabe killer with anything yet.
This mf needs to be charged with attempted murder.

(7,380 posts)and not just because of covid or my being a loner. Saw a post on Nextdoor showing a guy's driveway Tesla video of a car driving by slowly then stopping, guy gets out, knocks on garage door, then goes to gate, looks over, then leaves when nobody answers.
Nextdoor went nuts! OMG, someone is casing the joint! Call the police! Post after post about how shady they looked and what nefarious deed they were up to.
Only two people had dissenting views, which reflected my own thoughts: that it looked like someone either got the address wrong, or it was like a craigslist free item pickup.
But the hysteria evident was mind-blowing and frightening.
Sign o' the times, I guess.
Poor kid, wrong place wrong time.

It's because we're having a terrible time with thieves stealing everything mot cemented down. It's a huge problem here.

(5,494 posts)But where are the fences?
Anyone can just walk up to the front door.
In my part of the world, paranoid people build fences around their house and yards.
With remote controlled gates and a camera/intercom at the gate. And as couple of cameras in the back yard, just in case 'they' come that way.
If you are nuts enough to go to the front door armed and start shooting just because you see a stranger with a black face, you are doing it wrong!
Knocking on the wrong door shouldn't be a death sentence.
But the shooter will be more paranoid now. Expecting some drive-by lead coming his way, no doubt.

Because it would seem they're all done at the shooter's house & he had a door to replace.
But also, this is Missouri, right?
"Heres why stand your ground law protected woman who shot KC firefighter from charges"
She got out of her car at a gas station & shot a guy, then claimed self defense. Because MO's law is so vague, they couldn't prove it wasn't.

(18,874 posts)1000 people marched yesterday. That's a lot for here.
Investigation is on-going. Police chief and mayor are very involved.
There might be a bigger story. It's sounds like this guy thought someone was after him. That's just my opinion from stuff I read.
