18 years of child support is a long time. With DNA testing very easy to prove
or dis-prove if you are the father.

And a lot of states have the most excellent ability to track down deadbeat dads and garnish their wages and tax returns.

Just moving out of state doesn't help anymore because the Feds have gotten in on making deadbeat dads pay for their children.

I had a friend who had a baby "out of wedlock" back in the 1960s. The father skipped town to avoid paying child support. She had a really rough time of it. Her parents kicked her out and she ended up staying with her grandparents.

But when the baby was a preteen, they tracked the father down and surprise, surprise, surprise, he is really wealthy and has a new family. But he got to pay all his back child support. This helped the child go to college.

“Listen…” and

“Look…”

Several times. That’s so condescending and rude. If what you’re saying is worth listening to or looking at, others will decide.

"I think at the heart of this conversation with the abortion pill is whether or not we're going to allow politicians to pretend to be doctors," Brazile complained. "A judge who's not a doctor to say that this medication is somehow or another unsafe and should be restricted or not available."

This principle applies to reproductive rights and also to gender affirming health care. Politicians are NOT doctors, and neither are judges, and they all need to stay in their own damned lanes and let health care providers do the jobs for which THEY (not the politicians or judges) are trained to do.

Kacsmaryk was WAY out of his lane with his mifepristone ruling, and if SCOTUS upholds it, they'll be saying, in effect, that it's fine for judges to practice medicine without a license and control which medications people should have access to. If that happens, NO ONE in this country who needs ANY kind of medication for ANYTHING whatsoever, will be safe.

I'm going to be very interested to see how SCOTUS responds to the abortion pill ruling. Whether they care more about the law or about blocking access to abortion has been in question ever since Dobbs, and if they rule to let Kacsmaryk's decision stand, there will no longer be any question whatsoever.

…is ‘Don’t worry about it’. Almost invariably said in the context of a business discussion. Translation: You wouldn’t understand even if I explained it to you, which I’m not going to do. Alternate translation: Let us men handle this. Drives me crazy.
