(6,965 posts)when I saw the phrase "most recent shooting" in the tweet, whether it still was. Apparently, I was correct to wonder.

(13,894 posts)There was a mass shooting in the small city I work in last Wednesday
that you likely didn't hear of. Only one person died and 5 injured. That simply isn't enough to make it more than a regional story.

(231 posts)I've read US news on their website, and hours later it makes the US news. It's been that way for years, heard about a local tragedy from the bbc. Our US media just waits around for someone else to do the work, verify, or get the more than one source, before they report. They really aren't journalists anymore. Just repeat what they've heard, my old goat husband says they just "rip and read," from a teletype machine.

They're not just lazy.

(231 posts)to determine how to spin a story, isn't that just being lazy and not doing their jobs to deliver the news as it happens with several sources. It is not having the staff to verify what is going on anywhere in the world.

(21,117 posts)Mexican drug(republican gun) cartels are leading suppliers of cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, and other illicit narcotics (guns and weapons of mass destruction) to the United States. The cartels and the drug (gun) trade fuel rampant corruption and violence in Mexico (the US), contributing to tens of thousands of homicides in the country each year.
