how fucked up is this: there was mass shooting in Alabama last night. at a birthday party. four children dead. CHILDREN. and it didn't even make a ripple in the news. I had to hear about if from the BBC. this is why the rest of the world thinks we've lost our fucking minds

There was a mass shooting in the small city I work in last Wednesday
that you likely didn't hear of. Only one person died and 5 injured. That simply isn't enough to make it more than a regional story.

I've read US news on their website, and hours later it makes the US news. It's been that way for years, heard about a local tragedy from the bbc. Our US media just waits around for someone else to do the work, verify, or get the more than one source, before they report. They really aren't journalists anymore. Just repeat what they've heard, my old goat husband says they just "rip and read," from a teletype machine.
