Your argument is that as long as your client keeps piling up criminal acts he should be able to postpone court proceedings on his prior tortious conduct ad infinitum? Your client's bad publicity is all of his own making, and this court is not inclined to honor his delaying tactics. The trial date has been set for a long time, witnesses and experts have been scheduled for months, and if your client's alleged criminal conduct has made headlines recently, that's of no concern to this court.
