Litigation in the Fight for Abortion Access, a Leadership Briefing sponsored by Planned Parenthood

Despite the stacking of federal courts with anti-abortion judges by previous presidential administrations, the judiciary continues to play a significant role in the fight for reproductive freedom. While our opposition has eliminated our federally protected right to abortion care, we have seized this moment to fight back through strategic litigation in state courts. Lawsuits brought by PPFA, Planned Parenthood affiliates, and fellow reproductive rights organizations have been pivotal in changing states’ abortion access landscape, helping more patients access the care they need.

Alexis McGill Johnson, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, and Jennifer Sandman, PPFA’s deputy director of Litigation & Law, will provide timely updates on our current litigation and how these strategies are impacting our efforts to protect and restore abortion access. They will be joined by Jenny Black, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood South Atlantic, who will discuss the impact that lawsuits have had on the affiliate’s ability to bring care to patients and patients to care.
