April 4th

It was not, of course, "early morning" when the shot was fired. But April 4th has had special meaning since that horrible day in 1968. It is always a day when I think about Martin Luther King, Jr., and the lessons he taught by example.

As it approaches, with Trumo reportedly going to surrender to the Manhattan Sistrict Attorney on that day, I find myself remembering on of my favorite King quotes:

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."

I am hoping that when made public, the indictment will shed light on the crimes of Donald Trump. It will not be enough to drive the hatred out of the hearts of the maga crowd, but it may be enough to convince some republicans that he is a toxic growth on America. Either way, I will love Tuesday, April 4th, for the first time in fifty-five years.

Look for the Making of The Unforgettable Fire on you tube. Great insight on the recording of Pride. Especially the slowing down of the whole track. That's why it's never quite as full as live versions. That aside, THIS should be the focus on Tuesday, not some bloated, orange criminal.

I generally like to think of people on the day they were born, rater than the day they died. Now, I was glad when King's birthday was made a holiday. But I don't think it is celebrated correctly -- just my opinion -- and so I opt for April 4.

And I will definitely look for that!

I'm enjoying every minute between now and then, too. I'm confident that the charges will include a few surprises. So I'm also looking forwar to seeing the republican ass-kissers' responses.

Recounting the events of three years earlier. Thanks for the alert about April 4th; I will hoist a coffee in his honor on Tuesday.

Weeks before, when the march was being planned, and people were incarcerated, Malcolm X made one of his few trips to the south. He had been invited by the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee to speak. King's associates were concerned, as Malcolm was not a "turn the other cheek" type of leaders,

Eventually, they had Coretta speak with Malcolm. He assured her that he was not there to create problems for Martin. Indeed, he wanted the local white leaders to recognize that they were better off dealing with King than with him. Coretta was convinced of Malcolm's sincerity. She was aware that Martin and Malcolm had been engaging in discussions through a third person -- an attorney in Chicago -- about meeting together to try to work on a united strategy.

A short time later, Malcolm would be murdered.

You’re right for the first time in 55 years April 4 is giving a reason to celebrate.

I was at work last week Friday and I overheard my bosses boss carrying on about how the indictment would hand TFG the nomination.

Now my boss is wacky for TFG but I always thought of her boss as level headed fair and reasonable. I know him to be a staunch republican but in my head I took it for granted that he wouldn’t want a madman criminal at the top of the ticket for his party.

I put my headphones on to drown out the conversation. Texted my husband to commiserate and went back to work.

I am surrounded by insane people.

I think once Georgia and the docs case come fully to light some republicans will turn away. But I have no hope that this case will make any difference.

BTW do you realize that Mueller made a referral to the DA about these very charges?

I was contacted by two relatives. There were reports of a "domestic dispute" across the road from me. An ambulance had been called. Both ladies wanted to make sure I was safe -- which I always am.

Now, this may be a coincidence, but this involved the neighbors that have all types of insane Trump flags and yard signs. To take it a step further, it is where -- at least in the warm months -- the residents sit outside getting hammered most every night. Now, I live uphill from them. And as 'Til Tuesday sang, "voices carry." When walking the dog nights, I've heard them cursing Democrats in general, and yours truly in specific.

Thy had been unfriendly until last May ...... when they read that my son had won his third NYS Golden Gloves title. Really. The wife had "liked" a story on a FB page. After that, they started waving if they drove by me walking the dog. And I have not heard them cursing me as a Democrat since. Obviously, I have no idea nor interest in what they discuss inside.

Now, I have shared this true story with you, my Little Sister & Itty-Bitty-Buddy for a reaso. It's not because I take any joy in what happened across the road -- for I am 100% against domestic violence, and don't want its victims in ambulances. No, definitely not. But I said this as a reminder to you (and anyone else who may read it) that these people are a powder keg. Keep your headphones on around them. Wave if they wave driving by, so to speak. But do not engage. For hate is destructive, and th vessels containing the Trump virus of hate will self-destruct. Surely not all of the more casual types. But never engage with them. Stay safe, and ignore the things these people say, for it can only upset you.

Per Mr. Muerrler's report: I've long recommended listening to Nick Akerman. He has said that he thinks we will see the influence of the Mueller Report.

Your neighbors are scary H.

My husband was worried about possible violence where we live and I laughed at him. But you’re right if people will still believe what comes out of tfg’s mouth they are crazy by definition.

We just had a disabled vet move in up the street and there was a welcoming committee with very loud music at 8:30AM on Saturday. I was ready to ask them to turn it off or down when they started talking instead playing music.

Later I was wondering to myself whether he would be one of those vets who is all in for TFG. And whether there would be trouble worse than loud music later on. I haven’t even met him and I was worried. I do live in a very red town with only a few purple sections.

I keep my head down at work, eat lunch alone, and rarely interact with those outside my department. I wish I hadn’t overheard that snippet of conversation.

I guess I have to try and forget it. And continue to stay in my lane.
