Rex Chapman- Great Dude

People who follow Basketball knows who this high flyer is. This is a great interview. Rex has supported liberals and democrats forever and at the end he has a great story about Mitch McConnell. He is from Owensboro and I have v been there as a salesman. It is a small city in rural Kentucky.

As a 16 year old McConnell was elected as a Senator for he first time. They are all at the football field and Mitch Helicopters in. Chapman sees Mitch's briefcase and it has a confederate flag on it. Rex said" Eff this asshole" and walks back into school. He was suspended for doing that.

This is one of the biggest stars that came out of Kentucky. He was also Steph Curry's babysitter.

It is a real basketball town, too. The high schools always do well, and the college teams have won 9 Div II national championships.

I love following Rex on Twitter!!

He also has one of the most entertaining twitter accounts where he posts funny, optimistic and beautiful items along with some political commentary. Those on twitter should check him out.

Great in college, good in the pros for 13 years.
Some injuries in his early career that led to some drug problems that affected his career.
Absent the injuries he would have had an outstanding career.

Good defender, too. Except against super strong guys like Jordan. But, he was hardly alone in that.

up for 39. He tells that story along with others. If you watch enough of these they all remark about how tall Bird was.

Here is one on Mashburn.

9. I saw another interview

with him yesterday talking about Pitino and Riley with Rex. It was great. I tuned into Rusillo and Simmons. Neither had a word about Willis Reed. Reed was the first modern center. I showed Reed's highlights and my son said you could drop him into the NBA and he would be an allstar.
When he walked out with that leg in 1970 it is the most iconic moment in NBA history.

I actually watched that game last night. The Knicks moved so well without the ball. By this time Frazier was better than West. I know I am going to sound like an old fart but the game today lacks drama because of the three point line. There is no longer the battle of will. New basketball fans don't know that basketball is a battle of wills. In the eighties if the Celtics could make the Laker's play half court they won and if the Laker's could make the Celtics run they won. Now everyone plays exactly the same way. three point shooting contest.
This is also a great video. Charlie Scott

...of positionless basketball.
Whether it was Barnett or Monroe, the first 6 in the rotation could all put it on the floor, get open without the ball, play d & shoot.
They could knock down 18-20 footers from every spot on the floor.
You have Reed, Frazier, DeBusscherre on the floor, all of whom could guard 3 positions.
And,eeveryone could pass.
Figuring out how to defend them was a chore 48 minutes a night.

11. One of the greatest shooting teams

I said for a long time that it was the greatest shooting team ever. I can’t think of another team that had as good of shooters from the outside like DeBusherre and Reed. Both could bomb it and we are not even discussing Lucas. Both could play today.
