the government should ignore it. announce that the government will be shipping the pills to individuals in states with abortion bans. its time to take the country back from the far right. the so called law be damned when its a matter of life and death.
whats the judge going to do?
The far right has declared war on america. its time we realize that and start acting like it.

(15,756 posts)My idea would be to declare this "judges" ruling a National Health Emergency and order the continued prescribing and distribution.
Ask yourself this; "what would we do if a single judge ordered every state to stop prescribing and using insulin. What about a nationwide ban on CPR?
It's time to play hardball with those pricks.
I am not a lawyer, but couldn't President Biden suspend Habeas in this particular case to deny them prosecution of anyone violating this judge order?
We should not treat this like it is a valid legal opinion by a valid judge.

(2,824 posts)if he bans it it will go to a far right 5th district court of appeals. then a far right supreme court. which could take a long time to work thru it. in the meantime women will suffer.
ignore it.

(17,757 posts)they will be successful with this ban. The ban should be called the "support organized crime" ruling, because they will create an instant black market, where women will have to roll the dice with their lives in making decisions that should be between them, their doctors and legitimate pharmacies.
Republicans like to portray themselves as the party of individual freedom while at the same time, they want to make decisions for all women. If this passes, I would suggest, to all women, that they declare a moratorium on sexual activities until the men demanded that the policy be reversed. It would be the mother of all boycotts. (pardon the puns) It wouldn't be two weeks before the knuckle-draggers were showing up in front of the SC with their rifles demanding their vitamin "S" back.
I am waiting for DeSantis to ban the word "woman" and replace it with "baby machine."
Dog, I despise Republicans, all of them, all of the time.

(14,073 posts)He can rule that in his opinion that the drug is unfit and the FDA and manufacture take the drug off the market.
In others words, the judge is pretending to be a medical expert.

(2,541 posts)Using harsh language to describe what he sees as a conservative political strategy, Oregon Sen. Ron Wyden said a ruling banning access to mifepristone would not be legitimate.
Saying hed never called for ignoring a court ruling before, Wyden said the harm that would be caused by this decision would be irreparable.
The FDA should go on just as it has for the last 23 years since it first approved mifepristone, Wyden said. The FDA needs to keep this medication on the market without interruption regardless of what the ruling says. Doctors and pharmacies should go about their jobs like nothing has changed.

(8,875 posts)If we ignore their orders, they will ignore ours. There are several state court orders blocking state bans on abortion. There are several state supreme courts that have blocked, either temporarily or permanently, their state's abortion bans. The supreme courts in Utah and Indiana come to mind of ones that have issued orders staying their state's abortion ban. I think a judge in North Dakota blocked their ban IIRC, and I think Ohio as well.

(3,028 posts)thinking so I searched and found a copy of the original lawsuit and the defendant's motion for SJ that was heard today. Both pleadings list defendants but none of those listed defendants include Danco Laboratories which is the pharma that produces the medicine. Although Danco Labs was present for today's hearing that doesn't constitute proper service for a lawsuit.
Why hasn't the lack of naming Danco as a defendant been raised by Danco or any of the other defendants? The judge's decision affects them so they have an interest in the outcome case.
Can anyone answer this question?

(5,646 posts)Which I don't know how he can (I don't believe he has jurisdiction) as only congress with a presidential signature should be able to override the FDA.
However, if he does, I think his order will be immediately stayed. It may eventually make its way to SCOTUS but it will be a while.
If SCOTUS ruled against the FDA, the entire medical industry will be turned on its head.

(3,749 posts)I guess I'm wrong, but I am so tired of seeing them do one thing and IOKIYAR -- but not if you're anyone else. I'd really like for the PTB to start using some of the precedents that *rump made foundational. I'm not talking anything criminal. But this is an excellent example. However, I'd go one step further, and offer to those in states not only with abortion bans, but to those served by Walgreens, CVS, etc., who buckle under religious fervor and won't sell the pills - even tho they're legal in that state. As government, I'd then turn around and present a bill each month for the cost to these companies for doing their jobs for them.

Ever heard of "unintended consequences"?
We have a system, work within the system.
The vast majority of States offer abortion care. Set up transportation and care for women who make short trips to blue States.
Set up mobile pharmacies on the border, off the Highway in rest stops. Or in airports. Someone can fly from Texas to New Mexico in 90 minutes and be back home by dinner with a prescription. A non profit can cover the expenses including cash and child care.

(112,825 posts)and it will be argued all the way to the USSC, whose pious 6 have realized how badly they stepped in it by overturning Roe v Waade. My guess is that the appellate court will overturn Hizzoner's attempt to get into heaven over the bodies of women and decline to take it up.
After all, if some judge with a grudge can ban one drug, why not others? A JW judge could ban blood transfusions. Somebody with a kid addicted to opiates could ban that whole class of drugs. Vaccines could be banned, polio and diphtheria are god's will.
Shoot, some enterprising judge might even ban Viagra.
