I'll take the chance here. I watched the Sunday news before the Super Bowl and

I watched the half time show with Rihanna. It was a nice show but my mind kept seeing those horrific pictures of survivors and their families. I had no idea it would make me feel so intense about what was happening to fellow humans. I feel sad about Ukraine and have similar emotions but nothing compares to the sadness I feel over seeing the destruction and painful agony of mothers waiting to recover husbands, children, children waiting to recover parents. It is so heartbreaking.

I watched the half-time show but my brain could only hear Rihanna singing "Lift Me UP' as I recalled the faces of those earthquake victims calling out for some touch of humanity wailed in desperation for their losses. If I, sitting here, in front of my desktop typing feel this much sadness, I simply cannot imagine what those at the very core of the devastation are feeling.

Once again we see that mother nature is really the boss no matter how powerful any dictator is. I’m retired now but I covered the news for a living and believe me it really takes it out of you. Doing an interview with the parents of a murdered child, for example, exhausting. Sometimes I think sadness and grief are too overwhelming for humanity itself.
