face and killed, the other was shot but still alive. This is two blocks from where I taught. Schools are in lockdown as one suspect was caught and the other got away. I am so fucken sick of hearing about shootings everyday. It's big news here. I am old, I am tired, It has come to the point you can't even go to the store for food. Sorry folks, but when are we going to learn to put a ban on these weapons?Sorry for the rant.
Update, mother called police on son. Suspect left house. Officer tried to talk him down. Suspect turned and shot the one in the face, the other wasn't mentioned where he was shot.. Shit this is right in front of a school. A third officer shot the suspect in the legs. Shit almost like a shotout at the OK Coral. Suspect and officer are in staple condition. This happened at noon. What if those kids had been out for recess?

In OK, I don't shop in stores where I can't see an exit other than the front door. The last time I broke that rule, the cops came for some lady a few back in the cashier line, she pulled a gun on them. Others in that line learned an old fat woman CAN run.
In OK, the answer to your question is NEVER. Making sure your gun is visible at all times is as important as the cross around their neck.

One McKeesport police officer killed, one wounded in shooting

One McKeesport police officer was killed and another wounded during a shooting Monday afternoon, the city’s mayor announced on the town’s Facebook page.

“It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that the City of McKeesport has lost a police officer in the line of duty. During our department’s response to a reported domestic incident, one officer was fatally shot and another was seriously wounded. Please keep the McKeesport Police Department in your thoughts, and respect these officers’ families and their privacy during this tragic and traumatic time,” the message said.

Names of the officers and more details of the incident were not released. The investigation appeared centered on the parking lot of the Uni-Mart on Versailles Avenue near Grandview Avenue. Police were walking around the scene, where numerous evidence markers were placed.

Allegheny County Police were going to provide an update on the situation as soon as it was available Monday afternoon, officials said. All McKeesport Area schools went into “exterior lockdown,” according to the district’s Facebook page. A large police presence was in the area between St. Mary’s Cemetery and Versailles Avenue.

McKeesport is about 10 miles east southeast of Downtown Pittsburgh.

What scares me are the vendors.
I'm sure the majority are legit and follow the regulations, to stay in business, for hunting and self-defense.

But the unscrupulous types acquire all kinds of connections in both buyers & sellers of large quantities if possible.

BTW, the only administration to take guns away from US citizens was G.W. McIdiot after Hurricane Katrina.

So when anyone ever tells me that (D)'s want to take your guns away, I always respond saying "Like G.W. McIdiot did?"

with the Constitution and the makeup of the Courts passing laws will be tricky if it involves gun ownership.
About the only thing realistically that can be done though is to impose harsher punishments for commiting a crime with a gun but I doubt that will have much if any impact on crime.
If we truly want less crime overall the best way is to actually work to improve people's lives by lifting them up economically.

Mon Feb 6, 2023, 05:59 PM
Feb 2023

NO ONE who is not a sworn peace officer has just cause to carry.

If you believe you are in a war zone then anyone else becomes a target.

If you have reason to fear police officers the war has already surrounded you. And Yes, I do recognize that significant numbers of police are overly aggressive towards POC, frequently violating their basic rights and presumed innocence. That is part of the same problem, unfortunately.

SO far as it goes there are at least 50 times more weapons on the streets, or in civilian homes and hands, than it would ever take to defend from any possible foreign invasion. The so called "Wild West' existed for roughly 30 years between the end of the Civil War and the end of the century. Since the take-over in 1970 of the NRA by right wing political agents gun sales have skyrocketed along with RW propaganda insisting that only fools went out in public unarmed.

I can't go to buy groceries, or to the flea-market, or to get my oil changed without seeing open carry fools and armed vehicles in the parking lots. To say nothing of the people who might be involved in Domestic issues.
