Hong Kong offers 500,000 free flights from March to lure back visitors after tough Covid curbs
Airlines Cathay Pacific, Hong Kong Express and Hong Kong Airlines will receive the free flight tickets to be distributed to overseas visitors for six months
https://www.standard.co.uk/news/world/hong-kong-free-flights-visitors-covid-flights-china-b1057382.html ![]() Hong Kong on Thursday unveiled a promotion campaign that will include 500,000 free flights to lure back visitors, businesses and investors to the financial hub after more than three years of tough Covid-19 curbs. The “Hello Hong Kong” campaign was launched with dancers and flashing neon lights in the city’s main convention centre, next to its famous harbour, with a backdrop bearing the slogan in various languages including Russian and Spanish. ![]() Hong Kong leader John Lee hailled the campaign as “probably the world's biggest welcome ever,” and said it would show that the city was open for tourism while boosting business and investment. “Hong Kong is now seamlessly connected to the mainland of China and the whole international world and there will be no isolation, no quarantine," he said at a ceremony. “This is the perfect timing for tourists, business travelers, and investors from near and far to come and say, `Hello, Hong Kong."' snip ![]() ![]() ![]()

1. Not after the brutal crack down on democracy activists by HK and the PRC.
No thanks.

2. Hong Kong is the most disgusting place I have ever been.
The air is soooooo dirty, you can almost feel the cancer growing in your lungs.
I'll never go back again. Especially now that the PRC has crushed all liberty there. |

3. Nothing but great memories with my trips to HK.
Actually, most of my time was in Kowloon across the harbor. It was a fantastic place to meet people from everywhere. Of course, the recent crackdown on democratic government there has changed everything and I, too, won't be returning to support the dictatorship.

4. A friend and her bf went to
HK to teach ESL for a year and felt the same about it as you do. They hated it and left half way into their contract.

5. I'm not surprised. It's so bad words can't really describe it.
I'm always amazed when I see publicity photos of it looking so clean.
They must take those photos on days with strong winds. |
