When you contrast Joe Manchin with say...Jay Rockefeller or Robert Byrd, I can't help but feel..

that Joe Manchin is nothing but a political coward. His predecessor had far more political courage in one pinky than he's shown thus far as a US Senator.

He ditches signature votes on DREAM Act and repealing DADT, AND he refuses to endorse Obama for 2012. I'm sorry but that just cowardice.

Look, if deep down he's Zell Miller incarnate then he should at least let everyone know thats who he is. And then people can decide if they still want to continue supporting him, in W.VA and the DNC. All this hiding around is just really sad and embarrassing
to watch.

And the "I live in a right wing state" excuse doesn't fly either. Jay Rockefeller gets reelected in W.VA with 60%+ margins, and he's arguably more progressive and liberal than some blue state senators. W.VA voters have shown that they are willing to vote for a principled progressive in the past. Well I guess they're willing to reelect an unprincipled one too.

I'm sorry everyone (Manchin fans especially), but he's such an eyesore and nothing more than a warm body to keep the senate in the majority.

until 2010 when he was very old and weak. But even then he was a big reason why DADT was repealed but not replaced by a Congressional policy letting gays serve. Sorry but on gay rights Byrd was a big fat goat not a hero.

We have no need for 2 candidates (Raese Manchin)with the same basic view... the coal industry is already adequately represented. With the development of gas the only way forward for the coal industry is to work toward clean coal solutions...Obama has at least made some attempt but we need a representative that has more to offer than deregulation...we have 4 years to find someone I hope that we could start now!!!...Manchin is more powerful than ever..any ideas???
