https://www.timesofisrael.com/auschwitz-museum-russia-not-invited-to-event-marking-camps-liberation-by-red-army/WARSAW The Auschwitz museum said Wednesday that because of the war in Ukraine, Russia will be excluded from the upcoming ceremony marking 78 years since the Red Army liberated the Nazi death camp.
Given the aggression against a free and independent Ukraine, representatives of the Russian Federation have not been invited to attend this years commemoration, Piotr Sawicki, spokesman for the museum at the site of the former camp, told AFP.
I hope that will change in the future but we have a long way to go, he said, according to the PAP news agency. Russia will need an extremely long time and very deep self-examination after this conflict in order to return to gatherings of the civilized world.
The museum denounced the Russian offensive as a barbaric act on the day Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24 last year.

OP
It's pretty sad when Stalinist Russia is viewed as being much better than Modern Day Putin Russia.

Russia must be shunned repeatedly until leadership emerges to shepherd their return from pariah nation.

(53,978 posts)3. True, but Putin, with his apparent Peter the Great 2.0 complex...
has proven himself to be particularly immoral and aggressive in siccing his brutal forces on neighboring countries, especially those which were once part of the Soviet Union.
Ukraine is not his first rodeo but here's hoping NATO and/or internal Russian entities see to it that it's his last.
