Seems like they were the first to complain about cancel culture anyway.

Must be such a slippery slope, being a Republican.

I live in China. I'm used to people thinking that way.

China can require people coming here to get 48 hour covid tests as inflated prices they get a piece of at places only they authorize, but now that the world is doing the same to them, they are whining and crying.

Republicans do the same thing.

by the reaction of the right to the word WOKE.. they literally treat it like a swear 4 letter word. They border on the delusional about it

"Woke" started out as black slang for "awake.," or the past test state of having awoken, as in "I woke up this morning." And it was used to mean being aware of injustice, discrimination, religious intolerance, misogyny, and institutionalized racism etc. So that should tell you something about the character of why the extreme racist RWers use it so much.

As a Buddhist, the irony of it has special meaning for me, because part of my meditation practice is to reiterate my aspiration to become a completely and perfectly enlightened Buddha for the benefit of all sentient beings. To become enlightened, awake and aware of how things actually exist, to be "woke."

Why someone would want to be asleep and ignorant of how things actually exist escapes me. Why someone would continually choose to cultivate and maintain delusions that selfishness, greed, intolerance, and anger are the way to go -- well you get my point.

Those RWers who call themselves "Christian" and ridicule and label everything they don't like as "woke" must be asleep to Jesus saying - "You shall know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

There's no place in Republican extremism where any of the values Jesus taught can be found. None. It's all control and anger and rebellion.

But teaching congregants self-discipline and control over one's body, speech, and mind -- eh, not so much.

the Golden Rule seems to have escaped them.

And that second half main character is no angel. Quite the opposite.

Their worldview not be challenged. That is it in a nutshell.

The world changes or at least our awareness of the world changes as new information is discovered. We (as a human species) once believed that illnesses were caused by an imbalance of "humors" or bodily fluids. We believed that illness was caused by "demons" or bad spirits. We believed that illness was caused by "miasma" or bad air. THEN we found out about bacteria, viruses, and parasites that use our cells to replicate or simply feed on our cells or tissues. Then we developed chemicals to try to destroy those microbes.

Conservatives believe that society is best structured as a hierarchy with wealthy White Protestant Christian Men at the top. It has been their view since absolute monarchy and aristocracy were the dominant political structures. Having women and Black and Brown people gain rights and recognition for their contributions to modern society is an affront to Conservatives. To have to consider the perspectives of those people is a slap in the face.

That is what they consider "woke" and they hate it because, as I said, they would rather not have their worldview challenged.

Because people who watch Fox 24 hours a day all literally have the same mindset and train of thought. Being “woke” means you are above the bullshit.
