8. The sign of a weak argument.

Any argument worth making, does not require you to talk over or around anyone.

I had uncles who used to do that, when I or my sister would, at 15 years old, begin to beat them in arguments on logic and facts. They would talk louder or try to pull out the "respect your elders" card. We did not attack them on a personal level, just defeated their arguments.

When you have to shout over someone or Gish gallop, then your argument is weak and you are trying to compensate.
