Yesterday was great and sad night.....

I really never log in to the board but I read LBN every night. It is one of my main sources of news. As I was watching the elections last night on yahoo dashboard central, I decided to see what the good ole folks at DU are saying. Much to my surprise, (Well Kinda) DU was at its threshold and was allowing only Star members to post and view. I couldn't even view help pages. I logged in and pretty much the same. Couldn't view nothing. My main point is I wanted to be here with like minded individuals and celebrate the victory of OUR president. WHAT A GREAT NIGHT!!

So what does this mean going forward?

It means I will be donating so I can be a "star" member...

Please do not give me grief over my name. It was my "stage" name before the buffoons took it...

nursing in middle age, moving to another state, 2 years of intense nursing school ... and that's not even all. Rest assured, I voted in the mid-terms 2 years ago, and have kept up w/politics more than the Average Joe during this time, but just not at my usual level of intensity.

Just wondering what was up. Returning to school as an adult was weird, had to learn in a very different way. Rather than simply memorizing, stuff had to make sense. And, since was spending my time and money I felt I had to get all out of it that I could. School, work, family. It was possible to do 2 ok, but all 3? very difficult.

Congrats on getting through it, hoping life has settled down a bit now.

And the family house stuff? It is very difficult and reminded me to come home, throw out all those papers that were important at the time but now not so much. Keeping memories in my mind vs collecting stuff. Again, congrats on getting through it. And for me, knowing my adult life that if things got "really bad", I could go camp at home and take a breather. Now that is gone, don't have the omg I really don't want to do that fallback possibility is gone. As are parents.

Welcome back and congrats again.

...it had to narrow down the traffic to star members in order to keep working smoothly. It didn't last long, and I didn't find it sad at all. Perfectly understandable. It was that or have the site crash. Which would you have preferred? Elections like this are, at worst (because, let's face it, this was an election for America's soul) every four years. I really doubt we'll have that scenario again till 2016, and we'll hope that by then (1) It isn's to dire as to require such measures and (2) the new technology that's sure to come in the next four years will make it so that the DU doesn't have to do that.

Because where else should I have been when they called the election? Never the less I will make sure it does not happen again! I too believe this election was a factor in the future of America's soul and looks like we are started on the right foot. (I am still over joyed from the win)
