(3,525 posts)Turned out there are only three generic items I dislike replacing, and two she dislikes. All the other generics are about par with name-brands, and also about 35% less expensive.
So we get the commercial brand milk, razors, and other toiletries, but save a bucketload/month going generic on everything else.

(14,578 posts)Strictly store brand. Sure, Bounty is the quicker picker upper by 1/32 of a second. Any large spills I use a dishtowel.

(9,133 posts)You get 12 rolls for $26.39 if you use their subscribe and save option or it's $27.78 if you do a one-time purchase.
I like the quality.

(36,469 posts)Plus you can use their $5 off if you spend at least $25 on any product after the digital coupons are factored in.
So that $32 package of Bounty, assuming DG is selling it for that much, comes to $22 plus tax
Looking at the DG website, I could buy a two 8 count single plus roll packages for a total of $30.50 ($15.25 ea.) which would allow me to use both coupons so my final price is $20.50 plus tax.

(32,120 posts)and get the 6 rolls of Brawny@$10.69/6 rolls--before the $1 coupon. Wait. Who am I kidding? I'd head to my linen closet and pull out an old towel or rag, depending on the size of job. Or, a microfiber cloth, if I'm cleaning. I only keep paper towel around to wipe out oil from my cast iron frying pans, and a few other occasional tasks. Or, to pick up cat barf, except I no longer have a cat. A six-roll pack lasts me two or three years.

We're still going through our pandemic purchases from April 2020. Still so much toilet paper in the garage . . .

(1,766 posts)$7.91 for the generic econo 8 count at my local market.
$19.14 for the high-quality store brand 12 count.
$20.85 for Bounty 12 count. Granted, that's with a $2 off coupon they're offering. Still won't buy that overpriced trash. It isn't any better than the high-quality store brand I normally get.
If I wait, the store brand will have a better coupon. That's when I stock up.

(5,164 posts)A lot when I see some of these prices keep going up so high.
You can get pt in bulk for much less at costco brand and other places, it works just as well.

(14,228 posts)As Ms.Toad mentioned, $13.48 is the the price for a 12 pack on the Home Depot web site (the 6 packs were less). If the 6 packs and 12 packs reside near each other on the shelf, I easily see how a 6 pack could end up over the 12 pack's price sign.

(10,905 posts)I buy all my paper products there because the price at other outlets is insane for something you use once and throw away. You hit their periodic sales, you'll save even more money. Or buy the Kirkland brands.
