(68,001 posts)This is how the Soviets beat the Germans. Families would pool their savings to buy a tank for the Red Army. Entire collective farms would sew uniforms and socks for the troops. The war was personal for every Soviet citizen, and everyone got involved somehow, no matter the sacrifice.
A lot of Russians today don't want Putin's war of aggression, and are making a run for the border. While the Ukrainians, fighting for their homes and their very lives, are doing what it takes to win a war.

(17,035 posts)Anywhere from $200 to $700.
I don't know what the differences are. But I didn't really see anyone claiming mil-spec or ansi ratings.
Just search for tactical combat helmet.
Reminds me of the tweet showing a captured russian helmet that had a label inside saying "THIS IS A TOY. THIS HELMET DOES NOT PROVDE ANY BALLISTIC PROTECTION".
Russia has been found handing out airsoft vests and helmets to it's mobiks. Not really what you want in a real shooting war with artillery everywhere.

My aw fuck it point has gotten shorter as i have aged.

(2,002 posts)If you go to the sub-reddit for Ukraine, there is a list of legit charities for different items.
https://www.reddit.com/r/ukraine/comments/zt5tip/757_eet_the_sun_is_rising_on_the_303rd_day_of_the/
Once you go to that link, open the first topic that says 'Discussion and charities'. Scroll down to where it says 'Verified charities' and you'll see the links.
In the past some of the people that do the collecting/buying/delivering of items for the soldiers will post photos of the goods being received and maybe comments from the soldiers.

(3,671 posts)In my search there were many vetted sites to do so. The one I found which actually mentioned but was not limited to helmets was "Ukraine Aid Ops". This was the first one I found that actually mentioned helmets specifically. They had what I thought was a good mission statement and allowed for paypal payment overseas for at least a modicum of safety. I know paypal still has Musks stench on it but I held my nose and went ahead.
We will be having a Ukrainian dinner tomorrow along with many soldiers and regular people hunkered down across Ukraine. Our thought are with you.
Merry Christmas to all.

I have given them $100. And told people not to buy me anything for Christmas but to give to UCAP

(26,444 posts)This is "hearts and minds" at its best. The Ukrainians have their heart and minds in this fight. The Russians do not. The war is lost to the Russians - it is just a matter of time.
