This is virtually every response. I didn't cherry-pick these. (I found just a couple of positive responses.)I think my favorite is, "It's like the political version of suicide by cop."
(No link. It's Free Republic)
You know what. I'm done. Walking away.
Guess I wasn't far off.
Come on, this must be a (bad) joke. Please tell me this is not real news.
(And very, very sad.)
So either this is the Babylon Bee or Im done with Trump. Thank you for your service, but Im moving on.
Clearly, I was wrong.
Im sorry, but this trading card thing at $99 is a bit ridiculous. There must be something substantive he's preparing.
His ego is bigger than Obama's.
what a loser.
The guy's a moron.
Then I thought....
When did Trump support anyone other than himself?
So...what's the goal of this? To cause even more people to eyeroll him? How does this possiy benefit his 2024 campaign?
That made me laugh. This is the kind of thing his enemies would do as a joke to mock him for being narcissistic. And he just handed it to them.
It's like the political version of suicide by cop.
Its as if he is announcing to the world that he thinks we are suckers. Its as if he was sitting around saying, "I could get them to buy anything."
This is beyond sad.
I really believe the 'campaign' is just about donations and legal matterd timing.
DeSantis is the way to go.
His sad obsession with 2020 has devolved into hocking digital trading cards. He has no fire in his belly to be president again. He will not be the GOP nominee. I am cautiously optimistic it wont be DeSantis either. No coronations. Trump had his time to ensure he was setup for a successful rematch in 2024 and at nearly every critical turn went down the wrong road. Its disheartening but he couldnt pull it together. His time is up.
The best strategy from any Republican asked about Trump is to pivot to the issues.
The fact that anyone thinks this is some form of infinite D chess and applauds this behavior are complete cultists.
I donated way above the maximum to both runs, and now he has basically gone off the deep end. The absolute clown show that was the attempt at stopping the steal seemed comic book like at the time. Now I get it.
Thankfully we will now have a real primary season to find and actual candidate.
Thank you for your service Mr President. Enjoy your retirement, please.
Now let's see how many people stick with him.
Today is going to be a good day.
Ron DeSantis '24.
My theory: Trump announced his candidacy to keep the Democrat-political prosecutors at bay until a Republican can take over. Smart move. But stuff like this says to me that he's not serious about running in 2024.
Im legitimately having a problem digesting this as reality.
In short, they kept the stupid at bay.
The moment Trump moved into the Oval Office, Jared and Ivanka moved in to the West Wing, fired all the MAGA people, and kept the crazies away from Trump.
Trump might not have known who Nick Fuentes was but Jared and Ivanka sure as hell did and there would've been no dinner with Kanye West at Mar-A-Lago if they were still advising him.
And there most certainly would not have been today's "MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT!" as Trump put it.
Hunter uses that very same word in pushing his bling.
No 'art' of the deal for a second term, for me.
He thinks you're a gullible mark who will give him money for nothing just because he spouts some ideas you want to hear.
Wonders whether his mental transmission is
now slipping...
...could be a total loss...
That's not all. It's just where I stopped copying. The outrage, the mocking and the remorse go on and on and on...

We now know that Trump voters are dying at a significantly higher rate than the rest of us BECAUSE they refuse to get vaccinated. So DeSantis is promoting more deaths due to his public health policy. He'll be confronted again and again regarding this issue. He knows he's wrong, but he wants the Trump vote. He wants to pull the Trump knuckleheads into his camp, and THIS is how he's going to do it. He is demoting the importance of public health for political gain, thus making him the absolute worst candidate for ANY public office. Sheesh. Talk about baggage! It is hilarious at face value. But when the audience are these imbeciles who think the nation is in some sort of dire crisis, it makes sense why this would be taken terribly by them. Imagine if when Trump was burning down the country from the Oval Office, if Hillary had made a big announcement and we all expected something that was going to help and she instead came out with the Hillary Clinton trading card. Or Obama, or anyone. And they don't really compare to what Trump represents to these nincompoops, he was teasing some big rescue for them, they were all waiting on bated breath. And he delivered some self serving attempt to grift off from them.
Most will go right back into the bubble, but this was a glimpse outside for a moment.

wnylib
(21,941 posts)brought out a point that the poster probably didn't even realize is more significant than he/she thought. It's the post about Jarvanka no longer advising Trump or else he would not do something so dumb as digital trading cards.
But it's not just Jarvanka. The Trump inner circle of "advisors" has dissolved due to the facts that: 1) He lost in 2020 and is no longer in the WH: and, 2) investigations and possible charges (for Trump and for them) make him too risky for them to stick with.
Trump never was anything more than a public image for people who wanted to advance policies and agendas that his persona could pull off publicly. He could draw voters and use his collection of dirt on Republican politicians to keep them in line while advancing the agenda of the far right. He is no longer any use to them. They are distanced from him now and are regrouping for another leader. So he has nobody to advise him and is just pushing idiotic gimmicks as he has always done.
It never was about Trump. It was always about RW extremism being delivered to the legislatures and courts via the Trump persona. Trump found the RW extremism appealing and compatible with his own personality and a winning ticket to power, fame, adoration, and money grifting. But he was always just a tool of the extremist right for their own agenda (and Putin's) and he never realized it.
Without them, he is nothing and has no advisors to prop him up or to discourage him from stupid moves like trading cards.
The most pathetic thing, IMO, is not that he is hawking digital trading cards, although that is pathetic enough. But more pathetic than that are the ludicrous images of himself on the cards, with a slim, trim, and fit, energetic body. It is an ultimate vanity that shows what a delusional fool he is.

6. He has no morals.... He cares for only one person... himself... he will do whatever he needs to do to get what he wants, even if it hurts or kills others in the pursuit of his goal. We all have seen his lack of any empathy towards others,
