Seriously, a smart Lawyer going somewhere or in a good practice, would avoid TFG like the plague, but even wannabe jerks who are willing to do it for the "Reputation" should at least know a little bit about what they are doing.
Yet time, and time again, and even before Jan 6, he has had lawyers with no respect for the law and no understanding of the law making claims without evidence, precedent, logic or any other type of sense you could name.
So my question is, is there a strategy here that might make sense or is TFG that insane and able to mesmerize weak minds into ruining their careers with glee?
Can they call it a mistrial, evidence of insanity, or make any other claim come out of such insane legalistic behavior?
Since a lot of this was directed from TFG, I don't think he can call it a mistrial and ask for a redo. All I can get from it is a desperate attempt to slow things down till he can manage to get a beer hall rebellion going.

(16,646 posts)Even bad arguments are allowed to be formed and given time to do so. Weeks are spent on these and then objections are lodged and given time to be argued. "Time" being weeks. Good arguments are rejected and they move on. Bad ones are argued and then objections are heard, and rejected, and reheard to new objections.....
It's a stall strategy.

(11,760 posts)As you said, no adequate and reputable lawyer is going to touch anything associated with Trump. The kind of lawyer that is willing to work for Trump is likely to be willing to follow Trump's plan, which is to delay the process until some favorable situation presents itself.
As other people have said, the delay is what Trump is looking for. That and a narrative that he can spin to make himself the victim.
Trump does not seem to have the intelligence to plan in the long term. Everything he tends to do, seems to be for the sole purpose of delaying his ultimate defeat. If he can run out the clock on his criminal trials until a Republican president pardons him, then that is a victory for him. If he can delay the trial until he dies, then it is a victory for him.

(32,179 posts)That is an internet myth. He hired the Drew Findling whose nickname is the "billion dollar lawyer". Findling is one of the top criminal defense lawyers in the country and was president of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

If his lawyers are so incompetent how is it Trump has never been charged with anything even after 7 years of poster predictions that charges were "coming soon"?

(1,766 posts)Who graduates at the bottom of their law school class and who makes the bare minimum passing grade on a bar exam?
A lawyer!
Just because they're lawyers doesn't mean they can't be stupid. Stupid people get through law school and pass bar exams, all the time. Usually at diploma mill law schools and state bar exams like, oh, Alabama or South Dakota, where the test all but consists of the legal equivalent of, "Sign your name here."
But not always. Because stupid is everywhere. And I do mean everywhere. Always remember Carlo Cipolla's rules of human stupidity:
1. Everyone underestimates the number of stupid individuals among us.
2. The probability that a certain person is stupid is independent of any other characteristic of that person.
?You are here.?
3. A stupid person is a person who causes losses to another person while deriving no gain and even possibly incurring losses themselves.
4. Non-stupid people always underestimate the damaging power of stupid individuals.
5. A stupid person is the most dangerous type of person.
So there are plenty of lawyers out there stupid and amoral enough to work for someone just as stupid and amoral. It's inevitable.
