I also want to make it clear, I dont think Richard knew that shes not a drag performer. But now that we know, lets correct it.

(16,456 posts)Sometimes, after the facts get sorted out and the survivors can be heard, the real story is told. Thankfully, there were brave people who never thought for a second to do what had to be done.

(58,785 posts)and hope she didn't take it as an aspersion on her clothing taste. I like to think, though, that people of any orientation who happened to be wearing heels might have been inspired to stomp them on this guy's face.
Btw, Del Lusional tweeted that "Richard" did correct his reporting at least.

(82,849 posts)In the heat of the moment, it's understandable that not every last detail was immediately known. Fierro probably just assumed that the person who helped him put the beatdown on poor, misunderstood Anderson was one of the performers in the darkened club. Now that someone with better knowledge has clarified the situation, I agree with Del Lusional that we give her credit for her heroic efforts in helping Fierro and saving lives.

(6,297 posts)What set me off initially was the "label." I see so much of that that coming from repukes that it makes me sick.
And I hope that that poor misunderstood cowardly pos asshole never forgets what she did to his face.

Also the woman was referred to as a 'drag queen' in previous reporting, so it's good to clear this matter up if that's not how she identifies. I bet she appreciates the clarification.

(6,297 posts)"We are not afraid to defend ourselves." I hope it reaches a lot of people and saves more lives.
And yes I'm sure she appreciates the clarification and hope the MSM picks up on it.

I think it'll come.

(3,535 posts)I don't think, in this case, it was meant to be harmful, divisive, or labelling though.
For me, the image of an over-the-top high heel shoe of a drag queen pummeling the face of this monster was poetic. I think that feeling was picked up and repeated by others. Certainly a drag performer is not the only face of LGBTQ+, but it is a dramatic one and I believe it appealed to people as a to counter the drama of the situation.
But in the end, it certainly wasn't an accurate description, nor was it a necessary one.
So, just to be clear, I agree with what you are saying. I'm just pointing out that I think that this time it was done from a good place (or emotional place maybe), not a evil place.

(18,700 posts)It doesn't matter to me if that person was a drag queen, trans, or Gene Simmons. It makes no difference in the recounting. Being called either trans or a drag queen is not supposed to be an insult. Gene Simmons, maybe.
