I had an op up and some people disagreed, and that's all good. But one particular post got my goat and I literally typed F@ck Off.. thankfully I reread it before I sent it.. I am still laughing a little.. I reacted as if I actually knew this person and they had insulted me, instead of it just being an opinion on a board sharing political ideas..
The reason I wrote this, is that since Trump came on the scene, I have seen my own language deteriorate.. get a little more in your face. And that is not a good thing..
He has just been a terrible influence on everyone. Even me
We could not survive another four years of that depraved personality..

When we play euchre, we use the term "shit for brains" to avoid using the "T" word.
"Diamonds is shit for brains"
"Why are you shit for braining my Ace"?
"Everyone knows you don't shit for brains your partners Ace"
"If shit for brains is led, you have to follow suit"

(16,296 posts)And am sorely tempted to use a bit of the Irish, but they have a "swear-nasty word" filter, so I use ridicule and sarcasm in reply.. Sort of a creative writing exercise which makes me feel somewhat good .

(22,877 posts)Sarcasm and sometimes just dropping a truth bomb usually works better for me.

(50 posts)I don't often find an opportunity to cuss here but if I came across a mouthy MAGA in my small town, I'd have no problem telling them, "eat a bag of dicks."
I know Michelle told us to "go high when they go low" but my patience has worn thin and my potty-mouth has made a comeback in the past 5 years. I grew up in southern MD and I'm still a tad rough around the edges.

(54,403 posts)Or, if a teacup falls on the floor and smashes, they say it, too, sort of like "0h hell."
Literally it translates out to "the devil take it!" Sorta, that is. As I have explained before, Slavic languages don't have articles, so "чёрт" means "devil," "a devil" or "the devil," depending on context.
Just like Соединенные Штаты Америки means both "United States of America" and "The United States of America," or "Україна" means both "The Ukraine" and "Ukraine" in Ukrainian. Since, as a Slavic language, Ukrainian has no "the," it can be translated either way, and neither is incorrect (politically, or otherwise) in English.
Translations from Slavic languages into English can't be compared to translations from Republicanese, as they are often much trickier to figure out. Republicanese has become so pervasive that even many non-Republicans sometimes use it by mistake. Here are of some of the basic features of Republicanese:
EXCERPTS FROM THE OFFICIAL DICTIONARY OF REPUBLICANESE
In Republicanese, many words that sound alike may be spelled differently at random. A few prominent examples:
In Republicanese, the following words may be spelled at random using any of the three ways given:
A.) Two, Too, To
B.) Their, They're, There
c.) Your, Yore, You're
The Republicanese version of Robin Hood therefore starts with "In days of you're...."
The only rule is that the correct use of them as in English is never permitted twice in a row.
Words with single letters that change meaning when that letter is doubled must never be used in correct English context. The classic example is lose vs. loose. In Republicanese, if you do not win an election, then you loose that election. Conversely, if your (Republicanese: youre) belt is too tight, you need it more lose in order to be comfortable. Another example would be the Republicanese, I met Donald Trump, and he was rudder than I imagined, vs. I grabbed the ruder and was able to steer the boat to shore.
In English, the contraction for "it is" is written "it's." To show possession referring to something previously mentioned, one writes "its." In Republicanese, it is the other way around. Example:
English: It's impractical for a building to have its solar panels in the basement.
Republicanese: Its impractical for a building to have it's solar panels in the basement.
In Republicanese, an apostrophe is used to form a plural, whereas this is never correct in English. But it must be done at random, never systematically. For example, Bill and Hillary are "the Clinton's," but Bill, Chelsea and Hillary are "the Clintons." The other way around is also correct. In Republicanese, either form is correct as long as it is not spelled the same way twice in a row.
Example:
In English, one writes "The Clintons like dogs."
In Republicanese, this can be written as "The Clinton's like dogs," or "The Clintons like dog's" or "The Clinton's like dog's." The only version that would be incorrect in Republicanese would be to use no apostrophe at all. Only English is written that way.
