Weird thing happening here.

I'm working on the computer and suddenly Firefox will open up to Democratic Underground. And before I know it an hour has passed by.

So I close Firefox and get back to work. But then it happens again. DU's Home page or Greatest Page staring me in the face. And another hour of my day is missing.

This has been happened a LOT lately.

How do I explain this to my clients? "Sorry your project isn't done, I'm in some sort of weird time vortex"?

I think I'll get lunch and re-boot. Maybe that will help.

In fact, it gets WORSE after lunch. I can't even imagine what frame of mind I'll be in at 5, and how much work will have to wait until tomorrow!

I work from home and that's not even our cat!

But you bring up a good point about cats.
Back when I had a CRT screen our cat was fond of sitting on top and watching me "work".

It's being served from whatever server it lives on. That's the way images at DU work. They live elsewhere and are simply linked.

For instance, this one is on my server:

Along with the one in my sig line.

There's nothing wrong with Firefox. It was designed to open up on DU easily. The real culprit is the Time Wasting Gods. They're the ones that are removing all sense of responsibility from your brain and instead installing an app that allows you to spend hours on DU.

I often joke about the various gods that control things. For instance, the technology gods do not like me at all, and often technology simply does not work properly for me. Have no idea what I ever did to make them dislike me so, but there it is. On the other hand, the parking gods adore me. I always get good parking spaces wherever I go. And it's me they like, not simply my car, because if I'm a passenger in someone else's car, we still get good parking.

The baking gods are also quite fond of me, as anything I bake turns out quite well. The yarn gods, in contrast, love to toy with me. I crochet and embroider. My yarn and floss will tangle in the most amazing ways, even when I haven't touched them.

I'm looking at switches and suddenly DU is on my screen and the time warp happens. Not what you'd call a very productive day.

I think I'll go home now and practice OCD housecleaning with MSNBC on in the background.
