Man who wore Hitler costume for Halloween fired from job at Madison Children's Museum

Good -

UW Hillel, a community center for more than 4,000 Jewish students at UW-Madison, also put out a statement. "The glorification of hate, fascism and antisemitism is disgusting and an assault on the memories of all those who died in World War II and in the Holocaust; our community cannot stand for this behavior," it said.

To be somewhat fair, the article states that the man who worked at the center for 10 yrs. ---

Statements from the Children's Museum and Madison police said the man has cognitive disabilities.

"His work with the museum over the past 10 years has been closely supervised, coached, and supported. It is our understanding that he believed his costume to be mocking Hitler," the museum said in the statement.

The museum’s statement lead me to think that this man is a person with what we used to call mental retardation and that he needed support in order to be able to maintain his employment. If this is the case I do not applaud his firing over his bad choice of Halloween costume.

People including children with cognitive disabilities were victims of the Nazis. People labeled mentally defective were placed in institutions and killed. I visited one such institution in the 1980s and learned how adults and children were taken from their families, placed there and then their families would receive notices that they had died. Families were not told they had been murdered. Bodies were not returned to families.

I see that the mother of this man thanked the museum for the supportive statement they made about her son.

If this man is mentally disabled he is being victimized by the haters and the rest of us are falling for the bait of divide and conquer that the haters, including neo-Nazis are so good atusing as a strategy.

Just more denial of responsibility from an asshole.

“It’s not my fault! I have a syndrome! I have a condition! I’M THE VICTIM HERE!”
