General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsSo, DU what's for dinner tonight?
I know it's a silly question but I was wondering about your election night dinner plans. At our house we call it "the daily D". Today I was wondering about how to honor President Obama and VP Biden with a meal. Like what's their favorite food? I know there is a recipe somewhere out there for the President's chili?
What's cooking tonight while you watch the election results? Do you have an election day dinner tradition? A favorite recipe from a fellow Democrat?

(13,485 posts)The Roladen is a flat piece of beef, with mustard and other spices and a small whole pickle, all rolled and tied, then it's cooked in a brown sauce. The Knudeln is a large potato dumpling with a big homemade croûton inside; my kids think it's the "surprise". It's sometimes called a Kleuse (sp?). The Rote Kraut is red cabbage sour kraut.

(10,291 posts)I might even throw together some tri colored tortellini with shrimp and scallops if my mother threatens not to vote (It's her favorite and there's a great fresh seafood stand on the corner)
We are in a true blue state, she is to the left of Ghandi, and we don't live together (she no longer drives)
I *might* have to have her favorite on hand *just* in case I can coax her to come out today.

Today: Leftover salmon croquettes, fried eggplant (eggplant from the garden), green salad, mac & cheese and whatever else I can unearth from the fridge/cupboards/freezer.
And my special Salty Dogs: Ruby Red Grapefruit Juice and Vodka.
And ganja, of course, for that oh-so-mellow buzz.

(23,272 posts)No its not an election day fave, it just happened to be what rang my bell for dinner tonight. I'm using the last of the garden peppers and tomatoes though so maybe I'll make an analogy to the end of the "campaign" season by "finishing" them off with a victory party.
