Im not a Twitter user, but based on the research that suggests that the vast majority of political tweeters are Dem or Dem-leaning, why would a Democrat abandon a megaphone and mobilization tool so close to the election?

(2,202 posts)Its been a toxic cesspool for years now. Why voluntarily remove your voice 8 days before such a monumental election if youve weathered it this long?

(14,628 posts)I follow mostly Black and female journalists, Democratic lawmakers, and folks who tweet funny animal stuff.
I see breaking news on Twitter before it shows up on DU and I rarely see offensive posts on Twitter, because I dont follow assholes. And I block any assholes that do pop up.
I wont leave Twitter unless TFG is reinstated.
It is what you make it yourself.

(83,953 posts)Elon acts like a child.
There was a long thread started by, Yuel I think his name was...something like that. Supposedly in charge of controlling hate speech and said they were working to control it and had isolated it to 300 accounts. Says his team and Elon were working on it, a lie since E keeps posting his filth.
We shall see.

(13,571 posts)I have never encountered the "cesspool" that some people claim is twitter.
You make your own experience there, by who you follow and what you click on.
Evidently, I chose well every day, because my experience is enlightening, rewarding, with nothing bad unless someone re-tweets TFG.
I have appreciated the fact that a tweet I make can reach nearly 100,000 views. What a great megaphone!
I have made friends, found some long-ago old friends there, and am a better voter because of the information available there in real time, not digested and spit out by talking heads.
Thanks for this data.

It would be very interesting to see an update.

(4,268 posts)I am pretty "opinionated" there and I engage MAGAts before I block them. I post facts and counter the lies.
Honestly I'm amazed I haven't been banned yet, because I'm pretty...abrasive towards the MAGAts quite often.
I'm staying.
