For someone who claims he knows what he’s talking about in terms of security, and is trashing another social media outlet, he’s really into TikTok. TikTok is THE security and privacy nightmare (see https://vpnoverview.com/privacy/social-media/tiktok-privacy/ or https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2022/jul/19/tiktok-has-been-accused-of-aggressive-data-harvesting-is-your-information-at-risk for examples of why). On the other hand, there are no serious known and documented concerns with Tribel (go see for yourself). Founder Omar Rivera (of Occupy Democrats) does have some allegations being tossed around about his fundraising for his PAC, some legit and some based on misunderstandings about how PACs work. News flash - people who raise funds professionally and try to start media empires aren’t angels. Also, the allegation that Tribel is run by 2 people is a lie. There are 5 execs and 15 developers, at least as of recently. The “second person” this joker is talking about is probably Rafael Rivera, his brother and partner in founding the Occupy Democrats PAC, but not in Tribel. For a guy who claims to do intel reporting, Travis Akers not doing such a great job.

Sounds like someone is going sour grapes on another platform because it’s not HIS favorite data mining platform. Kind of like the group of (alleged) left-wingers who cry about RT being “canceled” because it was the only place that still promoted their favorite pundit has-beens (*cough* Nader *cough*).

This is why I get my info about tech and security issues from actual knowledgeable security/tech analysts, and not freelance writer dudes on Twitter who make vague accusations without ponying up any real info to back them up.

election fund and donated none of the money to federal candidates, but donated $250,000 of the fund to Blue Deal LLC, a company allegedly women-owned but actually owned by Rafael Rivero.

Besides the Rivero brothers being troublesome enough, and the terms of services that allows them to alter and profit from user content, from a national security and cyber security perspective, TribelSocial is exploitable and extremely dangerous. Not a risk worth taking. Avoid it!

None of this is unique to Tribel. The amount of data mining on any existing platform is atrocious. Tribel is newer and relatively benign in comparison to some, like TikTok. But if you want privacy, you better not be on *any* social media.

You can choose not to associate with anything to do with OD, but that’s also kind of a laugh. So… Mark Zuckerberg is more ethical? Maybe Elon Musk, possibly soon-owner of Twitter? Maybe Chinese oligarch Laing Rubo and partner Chinese Ministry of Security are more trustworthy?
