I liken the legal campaign against Trump

to be akin to an inside-the-park home run attempt.

Usually in that circumstance the ball is hit by the batter deep and caroms off an anomaly in the wall (or an angled wall as is placed in the Phillies’ Citizens Bank Park) away from the fielder(s) in such a manner that the race is on between the base runner and the fielder who needs to apprehend the ball, wind up and throw it to a cutoff person, who then relays it to the catcher who needs to apply the tag at home plate.

Here, the various law enforcement agencies are investigating but the clock is running and the question is, are they going to tag this guy out or is he going to slide home safely because the fielders handled the ball too gingerly?

So I spend virtually all my time in front of the tv screaming at it, either if it’s tuned to MSNBC or ESPN/FS1/TBS/TNT. I’m losing it and shall require tranquilizers and therapy when this is all, meaning the elections and the baseball season, over with.

I've already got the therapist, and I think the tranquilizers will do us both a world of good.

Hang in there! Sooner or later, there will be resolution, hopefully in our favor.

We waited for HBO to offer its streaming version on ROKU then we cancelled our cable. I also get my important news from You Tube and podcasts

The USA is ready for indictments and weighty convictions deep into the problems.

We had better win both Houses in the midterms

NOUN
NORTH AMERICAN

(1) an arcade game in which players use a mallet to hit toy moles, which appear at random, back into their holes:
"next time you are near a kiddie amusement park, go in and play a round of whack-a-mole"

(2) used with reference to a situation in which attempts to solve a problem are piecemeal or superficial, resulting only in temporary or minor improvement: "the site's security team has an ongoing battle against spammers, but it's a game of whack-a-mole"

at present rooting for the Phillies and the Astros.

Art Mahaffey gave me a baseball once at Candlestick 61 or 62ish. I was a child with a big bandage on my head in a box seat near the Phillies bullpen and he was warming up.

I want to thank you for your posts at DU. Find them compellingly human in a good way.

In 1964 on a weekend game I believe Saturday, he pitched 8 2/3 innings and was lifted. Next day he was used for 1/3 inning and said to a reporter “I should get credit for a complete game.”

I know by today’s standards that’s a dopey remark, but in those days it was worth reading and we all had a laugh.

Thank you for your compliment, it is very much appreciated… More than you know.

When the Phillies and San Francisco are vying for first place in 1964, the Giants were up in the bottom of the ninth, and he hit a ball that was definitely a winning home run but the wind picked it up and blew it back to the outfield where Tony Gonzalez caught it with his back to the infield.

Love to swap stories of the home runs we saw die at Candlestick.

Nobody outside of SF ever believes it when we tell them that balls would be heading out of the park. Then comes one furious (and cold) gust from the bay, and it was like the ball hit a wall and would just drop.

Willie Mays said he lost at least 100 HRs to Candlestick.

We also love to tell people how we would go to the park with coats, gloves, scarves and toques. And, if you were so inclined, a flask of your favorite liquor.

In August.

Because a day that started off beautiful and sunny could turn to cold and blustery on a dime. Actually, there was little "could" about it. It was more likely to turn cold before the game was over than not.

And a night game with extra innings? OMG. No. Just no. My husband has his Croix de Candlestick pins, but I was never willing to turn into a popsicle to get one.
