I find it way the most congenial place to talk to people, re web design.

I agree the design is stellar, and a major reason I keep donating to DU is it keeps improving.....if you want an example of a website that, like its members, NEVER EVOLVES, check out the Freak, er, FREE Republic.....

(24,381 posts)Of course, Elad and Earl G could tell us in a heartbeat, but I dont really think its that many.
One reason I feel this way is because of the way OPs are grouped.
Just click on the Author tab at the top of any forum and then scroll through the names. Youll find some members literally have pages and pages of OPs they put up. I also consider the number of posts vs the length of their membership. Ive pretty much averaged around 3.5 posts per day since I signed up almost 20 years ago, yet there are some who rack up 100,000 posts inside 5 years.

(1,167 posts)a few years before that; I think I found this place in 2001 or, possibly, 2002) and have yet to reach 1,000 posts.
I'm getting close though!
A HERETIC I AM
(24,381 posts)Sometimes Ill go for a week or more without posting and then Ill post a bunch in the span of a few days.
My definition of Active Member differs a bit from Mister Ed above, in that I consider someone to be active if they post once in a while, say a few times a week, anyway. Enough so that someone could get to know their perspective on things. But the fact that both you and he have relatively low post counts vs. your tenure means to me that you are sitting in the circle of the conversation, youre just doing a shitload more listening than talking. And I respect that a lot.
Some people dont really have anything meaningful to say and post a fuck ton to prove it.

I know I read DU for at least a year before I even signed up and it was even longer before I posted anything.
