miser. To be fair, though, the top rate in Britain at the time he wrote Taxman was above 90% I believe.

Taxman (Harrison)

Let me tell you how it will be,
There's one for you, nineteen for me,
Cause I'm the Taxman,
Yeah, I'm the Taxman.

Should five per cent appear too small,
Be thankful I don't take it all,
Cause I'm the Taxman,
Yeah, I'm the Taxman.

If you drive a car, I'll tax the street,
If you try to sit, I'll tax your seat,
If you get too cold, I'll tax the heat,
If you take a walk, I'll tax your feet.
Taxman.
Cause I'm the Taxman,
Yeah, I'm the Taxman.

Don't ask me what I want it for
(Taxman Mister Wilson)
If you don't want to pay some more
(Taxman Mister Heath),
Cause I'm the Taxman,
Yeah, I'm the Taxman.

Now my advice for those who die,
Declare the pennies on your eyes,
Cause I'm the Taxman,
Yeah, I'm the Taxman.
And you're working for no-one but me,
Taxman.

I have listened to this group more than you could ever imagine (I'm 54)

I listen to them on my ipod to this day. They never get old and especially this song.

I love this song.

I even took my transistor radio to school and listened through classes - hiding the cord under my hair. (My hair was thin enough that it was more likely that the teachers ignored it because I was a top student and in the large classes of that time, they had more serious problems to deal with.)

This year my husband and one of my daughters and I visited Liverpool and went on the National Trust tour (strongly recommended if you go there) of Johns and Paul's homes. (My daughter was studying in London for a year, so we and a British friend spent their long Easter vacation exploring parts of England, Wales and Ireland. )

been acquired by the National Trust. Paul's Forthlin Road home was on the tour then, but it was closed when we were there.

I hope to get back there some day and do those tours and spend more time in other London and Liverpool Beatles haunts.

I was only in second grade when I was introduced to the VeeJay album a few months before they did Sullivan, but I knew they were something special and have been obsessed ever since. I love lots of bands and many musical genres, but, for me, nothing will ever compare to Beatles music.

I love your transistor radio story, though, I'm not quite sure I get what "listening through glasses" means. Do tell!

What a perfect song! (I also like the suggestion of "I'm a Loser," but let's not be mean-spirited. Oh, what the heck, that one's good too. Or "Nowhere Man." Or "Fool on the Hill.&quot

I'm looking through you, where did you go
I thought I knew you, what did I know
You don't look different, but you have changed
I'm looking through you, you're not the same

Your lips are moving, I cannot hear
Your voice is soothing, but the words aren't clear
You don't sound different, I've learned the game.
I'm looking through you, you're not the same

Why, tell me why, did you not treat me right?
Love has a nasty habit of disappearing overnight

You're thinking of me, the same old way
You were above me, but not today
The only difference is you're down there
I'm looking through you, and you're nowhere

Why, tell me why, did you not treat me right?
Love has a nasty habit of disappearing overnight

I'm looking through you, where did you go
I thought I knew you, what did I know
You don't look different, but you have changed
I'm looking through you, you're not the same

Yeah! Oh baby you changed!
Aah! I'm looking through you!
Yeah! I'm looking through you!
You've changed, you've changed, you've changed, you've changed, yes you've changed!

Have you seen the little piggies crawling in the dirt?
And for all the little piggies life is getting worse,
Always having dirt to play around in.

Have you seen the bigger piggies in their starched white shirts?
You will find the bigger piggies stirring up the dirt,
Always have clean shirts to play around in.

In their sties with all their backing they don't care what goes on around,
In their eyes there's something lacking,
What they need's a damn good whacking.

Everywhere there's lots of piggies living piggie lives,
You can see them out for dinner with their piggie wives,
Clutching forks and knives to eat their bacon

He runs the show
He's licking his lips
He's ready to win
On the hunt tonight"

Nov 2012

He's a real Nowhere Man,
Sitting in his Nowhere Land,
Making all his Nowhere plans for nobody.
Doesn't have a point of view,
Knows not where he's going to,
Isn't he a bit like you and me?

Nowhere man please listen,
You don't know what you're missing,
Nowhere Man, the world is at your command.
He's as blind as he can be,
Just sees what he wants to see,
Nowhere Man can you see me at all?

Nowhere Man don't worry,
Take your time, don't hurry,
Leave it all till somebody else,
Lends you a hand.
Doesn't have a point of view,
Knows not where he's going to,
Isn't he a bit like you and me?

Nowhere Man please listen,
You don't know what you're missing,
Nowhere Man, the world is at your command.
He's a real Nowhere Man,
Sitting in his Nowhere Land,
Making all his Nowhere plans for nobody.
Making all his Nowhere plans for nobody.
Making all his Nowhere plans for nobody.
