It's absolutely disgraceful that this election is going to be so close.

I'm totally ashamed of half this country. The fact that a worthless, substanceless, lying sack of excrement like Mitt Romney is going to get some of the most votes in the history of presidential elections makes me completely sick to my stomach. Every time I think we couldn't possibly sink any lower, I'm proven wrong.

Eight years ago, this country reelected a moronic douchebag who did nothing as 3000 Americans died on his watch and was, unbelievably, somehow declared a "strong leader" because of it. Now this country may be ready to dump perhaps the most successful foreign policy president in the last 50 years who brought the terrorist responsible for that attack to justice and who ended one of the two criminal, disastrous wars started by said douchebag and is in the process of ending the other one. Disgusting.

I'm very confident of Obama's chances today but the fact that a vile empty suit like Robme will even be able to get this close to the White House depresses me to no end. I'm just grateful that, in 24 hours, I'll hopefully never have to look at his fucking face or hear his fucking voice ever again. What a relief that will be.

shame!

Thank god it will be Obama again for the next 4 years. Hopefully the Republican party can do some much needed soul searching and remake itself into something resembling a 21st century political voice.

I'm in complete bewilderment that it's so close.

I'm comparing it to the 2004 elections when the tabloids in England, in response to Bush winning was, "How could half the US be so stupid?"

I'm thinking that now. How can half the US forget where we were 4 years ago. No credit for turning the economy around. They give absolutely no credit for killing bin Laden. No credit for saving the American auto industry and the thousands of jobs associated with it.

How can they support a guy who lies about Jeeps being built in China and all the other lies and flip flops. You ask these idiots what Romney's platform is and they can't tell you. They don't even know. They say, "He's a nice man." WTF?

My expectation is tomorrow will continue a long, long run of Dem Prez victories.

Yes - what a relief never to hear Mitt's fucking voice again. And if by chance we do, it won't matter a bit.

And I think it is the false equivalency that the media and the citizens permit. There is no longer any penalty for out-right, bald-faced lies. They will not be held to "fact-checkers". They will only rely upon the money they can get from their richest contributors.

It really doesn't matter anymore if a candidate did not pay any taxes for more than a dozen years. It doesn't matter that he says he is going to cut taxes for everyone by 20% and still balance the budget ? It doesn't matter if he is an avaricious money-grubbing outlaw, who called himself a "venture capitalist, but who in reality, was someone who loaned huge sums of money to companies and when they could not pay them back, along with their wealthy commissions, they had to file for bankruptcy. Mitt Romney made many, many millions of dollars by shipping many of these jobs overseas. The money he received for many of these "deals", he stashed in the Netherlands, in Switzerland, Cayman Islands, Jamaica, and other places as tax havens so he would not have to pay taxes to the country from whom he is now running for President.

To compare such a candidate with our President and give them equal footing is a false equivalency. They are not equal. One is an outright liar and a scam artist. He has lied on national television and Chrysler executives called him on it in public. Still, he continued with the lies because he knew there was no one to hold him or his Party accountable.

Single-issue voters-- "guns, gays and God" are Republican "meat-and-potatoes issues" that will always attract a large segment of voters, even voters who might otherwise vote Democratic.

"But Romney isn't really that bad". I've seen that sort of thing posted even here.

"Romney has business experience! He'll know how to get the country running again!" Yeah, right, but people still believe it.

I will bite my tongue on other observations until after the election.

Yes, it's disgraceful that so many have either fallen for Romney's shell game, or hate the president enough to elect virtually anyone who is running against him.

But the election is not going to be close.

1. "No Republican has won the presidency without carrying Ohio since Abraham Lincoln was elected in 1860."

This is common knowledge, but if you want a source, here's one from the Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch:

http://dispatchpolitics.dispatch.com/content/pages/ohio-and-presidency.html

2. "But polls show Mr. Obama leading Mitt Romney in Ohio by about three percentage points, one point better than Mr. Obama’s projected national margin, according to the current FiveThirtyEight forecast. The auto rescue’s impact on Ohio’s political preferences, though modest, has been decisive."

http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/

If by "close" you mean that Romney has a chance in hell of winning Ohio, or of getting to 270 without Ohio, then no, it's not going to be close. Obama wins Ohio tomorrow, and Obama finishes above 270.

I don't agree with GWB policies but atleast the guy had conviction and I could understand why people would vote for him. But Romney is a total sleezeball. I can't believe almost half the country would vote for him over anybody but Charles Manson, Osama Bin Laden, or Hitler.

How can this even be a close race? However, if Mittney wins, it will be because they stole the election just as they did with both bush terms. I don't know which is scarier...that there are so many ignorant people who vote for somebody that is corrupt and doesn't give two shits about them or that it's still possible for a candidate to steal an election here in our country.

After the election is over, regardless of who wins, there needs to be ongoing investigations done regarding the corruption. After bush stole it twice, nothing was done. It's no wonder they keep doing the same shit because they will never have to pay any consequences.

Current President always has responsibility for the jobs market. Shitty jobs market makes it very difficult to win re-election. That being said, Romney is a terrible candidate. If the Republicans actually ran a competent one, Obama would have very little chance of winning. But despite the economy, Obama has a very good chance of winning because Romney is a complete joke. I just think it's hilarious that the Republicans nominated the one guy that they shouldn't have nominated.
