400 people are stilling dying daily from Covid. Two years ago, in Sept. 2020, when 400 people died daily people said it was a crime the government was not doing anything to stop it.

I still mask up when I'm in public places, and I'll continue to do so.

COVID is still out there and with winter coming up I think we're in for a large spike in infections.

I don't wish to be counted among those infected.

I think they decided that, once the senate refused to allow the funding to continue, they would ‘minimize’ the Covid problem until after the mid-terms.

I'm friends with some doctors and nurses who are now attending parties maskless. Why? They've had cases and vaccines and boosters.

It is what it is.

Having said that, I'll still mask when traveling and taking the subway in NYC. I still mask when I go into crowded stores in NYC, as well. And at church.

But, we've had cases in our household. Adults all have four shots under our belts (and one case between the two of us). Kid has three and a case. It was not too serious then. No after effects/long covid. I just am not as fearful as I was, and we have the tools to help keep my elder parents and other vulnerable people around us healthy. (Test before visiting.)

Most people i know are feeling the same way.

I still mask everywhere in public. I don't see a lot of others still masking, but I also know that the people who won't mask or get vaxxed at this point can't be convinced otherwise so I worry about myself and my family.

Which is why I wear my mask in crowded places where I don't know everyone.

Luckily, my daughter's school is requiring vaccines for all the students (independent schools can do that in NYC), so when she campaigned to not wear her mask this year, we agreed. (I know she can still get covid. She had it in May, so hoping she won't.)

But we definitely test before visiting with my parents. (Though my dad recovered less than a month ago from a case, himself.)

She was Vaccinated and Boosted, but got tested and was positive for Omicron in June. Was a mild case, she described it like just a bad cold.

But she has had some problems since and now has to have her heart function evaluated as the "mild" case may have still done some organ damage.

By the way I just had my Omicron specific Covid booster last week. Moderna since my Vacc and booster last year were also moderna. No really noticeable side effects at all.

had lunch with my cousin, two days later she tells me she's tested positive and very sick.

We were outside. I was not masked all the time. She does not mask, and she socializes with many ppl who don't mask. She was fully vaccinated and boosted when she got it.

I am vaxxed, not yet boosted -- having trouble getting an appt, and no walk-ins nearby.

for months. Anyone who doesn't wear a mask is just asking for trouble. Even if someone gets a mild case, there is an increased risk of all sorts of health issues and possible long Covid.

I can't get any more mRNA vaccines as I had a terrible flare up of my autoimmune disorder, so masking is the only defense I have against the plague spreaders that only care about their own comfort and convenience. I asked my doctor for Evusheld and he said it's too expensive and my insurance won't cover it.

I just bought another box of good quality masks today. Since I will probably be masking, I have to stock up on good masks because I've read that a lot of mask companies are lowering production or closing due to decreased demand.

I lost a family member, 2 neighbors, and several friends to Covid. Another friend died of a blood clot a few months after she recovered from Covid. A younger member of our family killed herself because she was devastated and depressed by the death of our family member due to Covid. They were very close. She had recently had Covid before she killed herself, so I'm not sure if her mind was right. She might have had some Covid related brain damage. I know many people with Long Covid symptoms as well, including my husband.

I cried when I saw what he said.

Try to stay strong! We must all continue to mask up & ignore the naysayers- which at this point seems to be nearly everyone!

I feel that our government, the CDC, the media are all doing us a great disservice right now.

Personally, I’m more concerned about long Covid than a (hopefully) short course of the illness itself. I had chronic fatigue syndrome in my mid 20s after a bout of mono (yes, it’s real), and long Covid sounds a whole lot like CFS. Trust me, you don’t want to get sick like that. I still have some lingering effects decades later.

There was a immunologist saying there are indications that long covid symptoms in some people may occur if they've had previous exposure to Epstein Barr. I don't have a link now, but I'm encouraging you to google it and see if you can find anything. Or do a twitter search. There are a number of immunologists, virologists, etc that I started following when Covid hit, and they have a lot of interesting info re: studies being performed.

My husband and I mask everywhere the very few places we go to outside the home. He has cancer, but we would still mask up. We live in Northern Virginia, which had great mask and vaccine compliance - until recently. I was shocked at how few people were masked the last time I went shopping, including a lot of the staff. Not so coincidentally, Covid cases seem to have gone up significantly in the last month or so around here. I hate it, too, but it’s so easy to put on a mask, at least for short periods of time. I don’t understand why people are willing to risk it.

and we should be encouraging people to get vaccinated, HARD.

i still mask in public places. mostly to protect my wife, who is in poor health. i don't mind that not everyone else is masking. now that we have vaccines and less deadly variants, the risk isn't as great, but there is still serious risk, and huge numbers of cases and deaths. A really bad flu season kills about 50000 people. Covid is still WAY beyond that, by nearly 3 times.

We don't need to go back to lockdowns and such or even mask mandates (at least not right now), but we shouldn't minimize this. The threat is real and we need everyone vaccinated and boosted.
