It's too bad we cannot look into a crystal ball and see the future.

What will the rest of the world think of America if Donald Trump is permitted to walk away from his dangerous, treasonous crimes?

What will most of America think if that happens?

Will the government be considered "legitimate"? Will the people simply forget about it and move on?

Will there be violence and which side will it come from? Or will it come from all sides?

How important is justice to the survival of our democracy?

Can a criminally-inclined minority dictate the future of this country?

What happens when one political Party cannot hold their own accountable?

Is this the last chance for America?

Or is it already too late to save?

Does anyone have those answers?

Read the comments in NYTimes and WaPo. A few folks from other countries comment about what’s going on and ask the same questions.

3. It is not the future, it is now.

We know what the world thinks of a country whose leader sold secrets to enemies.
And endangered our allies. A country which can not be trusted.

I am sure the Brits shake their heads when Yanks grouse about their royal family.

When Americans love a POTUS who is a criminal and belongs in prison for life.
A leader who put the British military and intelligence networks in grave danger.

If Trump goes free, then the world knows that American justice/ rule of law is poppycock.
Democracy is a weak and foolish form of government.

And it is just a matter of time before someone smarter than Trump finishes the job Trump started.

4. How many terrorist plots have been prevented from Intel from trusted allies?

Or should I say allies who were trusting of us?

Or even intelligence from countries that we're not our allies but still wanted to prevent attacks? These people are not going to trust our intelligence agencies with their spy work if they know that information is not going to be secured or sold off to the Russians or Saudis.

Americans live in much more dangerous world now, thanks to Donald Trump.

Most are busy working, grocery shopping for family, getting a handle on busy lives. Some may glance at headlines from time to time. But most don’t have an in-depth look at politics.

7. Vital hypothetical questions that flows from yours: What happens in 2024/2025 IF the Rethug POTUS
Wed Sep 14, 2022, 09:37 AM

candidate loses the popular vote AND the Electoral College based off the popular vote in the 50 States + DC, BUT then enough Rethug-controlled State legislatures (with a Rethug Governor, so no veto) FLIP their Electoral Votes from Blue to Red to give the Rethug POTUS candidate 270 or more EVs IF those slates are allowed to stand by the RW-stacked SCOTUS? The vote will then go to the US House, where it is basically impossible to wrest control of enough State delegations (as each states gets one vote, and 26 are needed) to drag the Rethugs under 26. The Rethug POTUS would be thus be 'elected', with the SCOTUS, in this scenario, signing off on it all.

Will we accept the Rethug POTUS?

What can be done at that point? (as IF it does happen as laid out, it is all technically within the constitutional boundaries, which have massive weak spots that few acknowledge, especially at SCOTUS level in regards to all this, but also, obviously, including the Electoral College and the nature of the Senate itself, etc etc)

Will it kick off, if it stands, a series of Blue State secession movements?

Will those lead to a kinetic civil war?

Finally, I will posit that the Rethugs, for this scenario (but not limited to this scenario), may well control the House and the Senate post 2024 as well (as the Senate map in 2024 is horrific for us, the Rethugs only have to defend 10 seats TOTAL, ALL deep, deep Red except for shitspittle Scott in pretty Red FL, and we have as many as 12-14 seats in danger to varying degrees, some quite serious). That would all likely give the Rethug POTUS unchecked control to do all sorts of crazy things (especially if it is Trump or DeSantis), thus making his/her seizure of power even worse.

8. I think Liz Cheney and Zoe Lofgren are working on how to reform the State Electoral votes?

If the popular vote doesn't count in each state, then the reality would be that a small number of gerrymandered districts could determine the electoral votes from those states. A very small number of people could claim to represent the majority.

9. Yes, but let's assume that a few states DO flip the EC to the Rethug, and the SCOTUS allows it. What

then?

I absolutely understand that there are multiple barriers and hurdles to clear to get to that nightmare, but what if it does happen?
